if you want every detail to be handled read a novel, it just isn't necessary in this case to drive the plot forward.
In ANH the specific details of how the Rebels acquired the Death Stars plans are never mentioned, and still the plot springs in motion.

The start of the plot is Poe getting the map. Where he gets it from is always going to be mysterious because of the time skip. So he gets it from a mysterious (but believable) character. Job done.
There's no way to have a story after a time skip without a bunch of "just accept it" scenes.

It doesn't matter how the Rebels got the DS plans (yet Disney is making a movie about that too) because it makes sense and you can easily understand how it happened. That's not the case here.
You can have a teal elephant with a submarine shoved up his ass appear in the middle of the fucking movie and not explain how it got there, but some people might want some explanations.
