I love 4, 5, and 6.
1, 2 and 3, each have at least some good scenes, so they're pretty cool too I guess.
I actually liked 7 even though there were a few details I disliked.
Overall I'd say original trilogy > sequel trilogy > prequel trilogy so far for me. We'll have to see of course since we're only 1/3 of the way through the new ones but that's where I'm at for now.
So I'd say Lukas did alright. I've never particularly liked Lucas, since my favorite star wars stuff is like the thrawn trilogy and shadows of the empire and the kotor games and the x-wing and other novel series and stuff like that, but my opinion of him is more positive than negative.
He had an idea and it became popular. He threw the tried and true heroic epic and put lasers and spaceships on it and it took off. He's just kind of lucky to be honest. The story and themes of star wars have been around since humans told and shared stories by spoken word and etched tablets. He just kinda put into a cool frame and did a good job with a few movies and now he's the progenitor of a phenomenon.
