irredeemable trash
>>
I like Episode II as much as I like sand
>>
It has its moments and Natalie Portman is hella sexy, but I honestly think it is the worst prequel. Mainly because of all the Senate BS.
>>
Episode 2 wasn't really THAT bad tbqfch

Episode 7 on the other hand. . . well let's just say Jayj is literally worse than holocaust
>>
My favourite one. Good battles, mystery, love, anger, betrayal. It was excellent. Hit me in the feels.

Episode 2 is actually my favorite of the prequels. It's not a great movie overall, but I like the mystery of the clone planet, Jango Fett, and the action is pretty nice too.
>>
>>64419025
pretty much this. I did enjoy moments of it.

However, they should have kept Yoda's lightsaber skills under wraps until Episode III
>>
AOTC is often cited as the worst star wars ever made. Thanks to JJ that's already changing.
But for all the critical failures of ep II, it was a technical success, Full cg yoda, first hd digital camera, full digital pipeline, easily one of the most complex audio mix of the entire series.
>>
Suffers from the investigation dead-ending before the payoff and the romance being awkward and cringey. Also, the Jedi/droids part of the arena battle just goes on far too long.

Hayden's line delivery is also bad in ROTS, but all his non-verbal acting in ROTS was magnificent. Unfortunately, he's still not there yet in AOTC, and as a result his performance doesn't have much in the way of redeeming features. I do like his emotional outburst with Padme after the Tusken slaughter, though; it's a nice change from how wooden he seems most of the time.

Ultimately the weakest film of the saga, but still watchable.

Better than VII.

Just rewatched Episode I

What are the major gripes again? If Jar Jar Binks was removed from the movie and Anakin was more like age 13 I think it would be pretty solid all around.

What's wrong with midichlorians? Doesn't have to all be >muh magic, what exactly does it contradict.

>However, they should have kept Yoda's lightsaber skills under wraps until Episode III
>Yoda's lightsaber skills
>Yoda
>lightsaber

In a nutshell, one of the chief reasons the PT and especially EpII sucked balls.

OT hinted strongly that particularly powerful Force users had progressed beyond lightsabers...Yoda pulls Luke's X-Wing out of a swamp, the Emperor firing lightning from his fingertips.

The PT? Force Lightning and telekinesis are just foreplay, man. Dooku tries to zap Yoda, but then says, fuck it, time to whip out the killer flashlights. Yoda starts bouncing around like a frog.

And then the Jedi CHARGING INTO BATTLE waving lightsabers...never mind subtlety, stealth and secrecy, man. FRONTAL ASSAULT, BITCH.

Fuck George, man.
>>
>>64419449

Yoda and the Emperor, as well as Dooku, do attempt other Force means first

the saber is just like getting your hands dirty after your first trick doesn't pan out

It's boring as all fuck.
Baby Anakin blows up a space donut!
Podrace is just the George flopping his special effects dick around to compensate for lack of story.
Maul had no character.
C3PO's inclusion was fucking stupid. Queen Amadala had no character.
Qui Gon was a boring asshole.
Obi Wan was a lazy retard.
Watto.
Selbulba made it seem like a Saturday morning cartoon.
Plot was stupid and made no sense and the characters all made stupid and illogical decisions.

>>
>>64419506

The baby Anakin thing is far fetched and shoddily explained, would have made more sense for him to be a young teen or something so he'd at least not be a child

The podrace was cool! I felt into it again.

Maul's mystique was part of his character, I kind of like how they played him, even the dual saber reveal at the end with the music starting to swell, it's awesome after the slow buildup.

C3Po wasn't necessary, Amidala was kind of stoic

Qui Gon and Obi Wan were a good duo, they weren't a blight at all, definitely helped

I actually think the plot is pretty good and I was hyper-analyzing it, it's Jar Jar and the other forced comedy that distracted me occasionally

Episode II probably has the most incoherent story line of any movie ever. It took a few story arcs from the clone wars to clean that mess up. It probably has some of the worst dialogue in flick history. I like the scene with Obi-Wan chasing Jango through the asteroid belt though.

It's nice to see that you enjoy it anon. I enjoy them a slight bit too it's just that I understand why they're considered so bad compared to the Original Trilogy. But they're still slightly enjoyable if I'm being honest.

You just don't seem as cynical as most people are when it comes to these 3 films and that's pretty nice to see.

I was 7 when I saw TPM in theaters and watched the rest upon release as well

Padme was my first crush

also played the Battlefronts like a madman on PS2

I have a strong reserve of nostalgia for the series as a whole, not just the OT, I guess it's hard to expect older fans jaded by their first viewing to be particularly fond of them
>>
>>64419876
Over CGI-d and political, the prequels did have a compelling story arch and design. If only George wasn't a hack with writing and direction...

>>
>>64419876
Shit I loved the prequels upon release but since I started taking film classes in college, my professor explained pretty comprehensively why they're just not as good as the Original 3. I still like them (especially Revenge of the Sith) but I make an effort to understand why they're weak films from a storytelling and filmmaking perspective. I'm definitely not going around telling people they're better than VII like the contrarians here.

Battlefront II was fucking awesome though, huh?
>>

It's got some of the best action and world building from the series:

>Speeder chase scene in coruscant
>Bar scene in coruscant
>Coruscant
>Cyberpunk world
>Coruscant

>Obi wan on the clone planet
>dat cgi rain and ocean
>Obi Wan vs Jango Fett in rain
>Jango chasing Obi wan in the asteroid field
>Battle of geonosis
>Arena fight vs mosters
>Jedi fight in arena
>clones wars battles with god tier cgi
>dooku vs anakin

also the sound design is amazing, as well as every creature, machine and costume design--everything is original, ambitious, and memorable

only people that don't like it simply don't like star wars

>Maybe it's the STEM autist side of me kind of liking at least a rough quantification of someone's potential
>how would they know of his high ceiling? just "sensing" it?

Before midichlorians force was abstract concept in philosophical or religious sense. Just sensing Anakin being strong would have been much better. Shit, they did just that in original trilogy.

STEM autist side in me is fine with as vague definitions in scientific matters on scifi... because if you start to think that too hard non pop-scifi it will break up in horrible way. Once they added numbers to Star Wars, gotta be bigger than in trek... In Star Wars every fighter is armed with rapid fire cannons that fire tactical nukes... none of ground combat with similar sized weaponry seems bit different in movies. Every fighter in Star Wars should be able to burn surface of earth sized planet crisp in matter of hours. That kinda makes the Deathstar kinda redundant.

Same shit with Star Trek and numbers. In ST a photon torpedo has 64 megaton yield. Turning average human into elemental particles for teleportation takes about same amount of energy. They play with that kind of energies inside their living quarters and command centers by the dozen. Shit, every time Piccard gets a cup of earl grey in TNG... somewhere inside enterprise a roughly megaton nuke goes off.
