It was out of necessity. I didn't like it either but Sci-fi channel wasn't gonna go overboard with a budget.
Favorite: Tarman (Return of the Living Dead)
Least Favorite: Ro-Man (Robot Monster)
Underrated: Killer Klowns

Aliens from Attack the Block were pretty unique and underrated.

Smaller budgets more than anything coupled with the fact they were handling more monsters.
The tv show is quite good if you can over look the fact they had to contend with shitty early 2000's budget CGI for most of the monsters

Eh, the Rhedosaurus was a pretty generic dinosaur monster, very well animated though. I did like the storyline if everyone thinking the guy who saw it is crazy.
An underrated one I'd say is Mighty Joe Young (the original not the Disney remake). It interacts with the human cast very naturally and emotes like a real character.
