They made such a huge deal that this particular character was a female and would kick ass and she's a Captain and blah blah blah.
I'm all for badass female characters in movies, but this chick was stupidly underused for how much hype they tried to put on her. She ended up being completely worthless to the plot, and instead of giving her the scene to 1v1 finn while he has the lightsaber, they give it to some no name trooper who ended up being more memorable than phasma ever was.
