Its the middle of the night and a blizzard is happening there's no chance the moon is out in the weather, yet Uno Farto thought it would be a good idea to fill up the scene with the most obvious artificial lights that are barely hidden behind the house and outhouse. why not just have one light behind the camera to brighten up the scene evenly or even go the way of The Revanent and not use any artificial lighting at all and show how dark it really was?

also why does this black sargent in the 1800's have the whitest most perfect teeth i've ever seen in a western.

I kinda like Tarantino's writing and directing but he really doesn't do historical accuracy or subtle cinematography very well.

Nah you're just a racist bro

>he really doesn't do historical accuracy or subtle cinematography very well.

He practically does cartoons for adults. This is especially more so since Kill Bill.
>>
The sooner you accept QT doesn't do high art or cinema, but blaxploitation and grindhouse, the sooner you'll be at peace with yourself.

That said, Hateful Eight is the best movie I've seen this year. It's literally been over a decade since the last good whodunnit.

If you like his writing, what did he mean by this?

What's the plot of this movie anyway? Black guy drops into a house full of bad people and kills them off because he's black and angry?

Because historical accuracy and natural lighting has always been a hallmark of the grindhouse genre

Change "black" to "white" and you have the plot to Die Hard and 90% of action movies
>>
The only reason I think for that blatantly obvious artificial lighting is that it's a callback to The Thing, in which there are actually artificial lights spread out across the complex.

Tarantino is a dumbass.

>>64388464
I think you may have trouble understanding movie plots.

He killed Hitler in his WW2 movie, so I'm going to go ahead and say historical accuracy isn't something he cares much about.

When Tom Hardy said "girly little bitch" in The Revenant that actually bothered me more than anything in H8 or Django.

how is 12 angry men a whodunnit hahaha

who were the other two? i know one of em was Channing Tatum who hid in the basement the whole time but i didn't see anyone else.

Reservoir Dogs was so much better than Hateful 8
>>
>>64388494
A got a lot of "The Thing" vibes from the film as well; I mean it had an isolated and paranoid Kurt Russel locked in a snow storm, my question is whether or not the connection was intentional by Tarantino?
>>
>>64389295
It was intentional, Tarantino even used some of Moriconne's music he made for The Thing but that had never been used. The huge portion of H8 is like the blood sample scene in The Thing.
>>
>>64388985
>>64388906
people had better teeth back then because they would mostly eat hard shit like grains that polishes your teeth instead of the sticky soft sugary shit we have today
>>
>>64389091
OB, the driver.
>>
>>64385717
The things that bothered me in the Hateful 8 were the usually Tarantinoisms that don't make much sense; like the use of some relatively modern music for a short sequence following the buggy on its way up to the cabin. It felt totally out of place but Tarantino does that a lot ("One Hundred Black Coffins" in Django probably being the worst offender) I mean you've got a great score provided by Morricione for Christ's sake just use that.

Other than that my only other major complaint would be the subject didn't fit the format well. I saw the Roadshow version, which I'm sure is the better of the two, and it just seemed to unnecessarily drag the film out longer. I like the use of 70mm and wanting to bring back Intermissions and Overtures, but the film needed to be a bit more grandiose and larger scale to justify the "epic" format for me.

>>
>>64389489
Zoe Belle's character seemed out of place in the 19th century
>>
>>64389489
For me the biggest crime of H8 is that it has no legendary quote that will be repeated by drunk kids for ages. Every QT achieved that, well, maybe Django didnt as well. Leo talking about how dumb old Ben was fits the bill

I dont know, I hoped for more references to the The Thing. Mainly because I love the movie.

I secretly hoped that in the end they would burn down the cottage.

The fire in the blizzard. Drunken Kurt and SLJ watching it from a shit booth before inevitable death.

>>
>>64391121
Mannix is the biggest caricature in a Tarantino film, which is saying something.

The part of the English dude was written for the English dude.

Waltz was supposed to the Mexican (who was originally French), but I guess he was tired of playing caricatures.
>>
>>64391190
When he said there's 10 of them he was talking about inches.

Don't underestimate the dingus.
>>
>>64385717
Once you realize Tarantino's movies are really egoistic and characters are similar, if not the same, somehow they become atrocious.
Kill Bill, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and that other one were great, but he brought little new afterwards.
>>
>>64391354
DESU the mexican was the greatest character, I just loved the accent and the giant fur coat.

Why did Minnie invite the Mexican in her haberdashery if she hated mexicans?

Why didn't the gang shoot the Hangman while his back was turned when he was hammering the plank to the door?

Why didn't the gang just shoot Warren immediately after the Hangman was poisoned? They had guns hidden everywhere

Why did the guy in the basement wait until after Warren shot the Mexican before shooting Warren's balls off?

Why didn't he shoot Warren again immediately afterwards, while he was crawling on the ground?

How did Warren and the Hangman not notice a single member of the gang, even though they have massive bounties on their heads and are reportedly famous?

Why did the gang offer the deal to only the confederate old man, and not the other old man?

Why did Goggins suddenly fall down, only to get back up minutes later?
