If I had to rewatch one of them right now, I would have to pick Episode I. Not that it's better, mind you, but I can watch it knowing it's a bad movie. I can't do that with VII. TFA is not good, but it's not bad either. It's just terribly bland. There is nothing in that movie that got me excited, and by the time they went to destroy the Deathstar 3, I was completely bored. TPM was a clunky mess, but it's not going to put me to sleep.

I liked TPM better because it had original costume, character and set design along with an original soundtrack whereas TFA was basically ANH HD.

Episode One is a space opera for old men looking back on their lives. It is also some straight talk from Old Man Lucas and a great primer for kids growing up in America in the 21st Century. He's basically telling you how to succeed in a shitty environment: apply yourself to mechanical and computational problems, find a way to endure, etc. It's like Geoge has written an Emersonian love letter to his audience.
