is there any average+ movies about gambling?
I've heard 21 one is a bad movie but the documentaries about the MIT blackjack team are pretty entertaining.
>>64335989
isn't The Cooler about gambling?
California Spit is a classic and directed by Robert Altman.
Of course Rounders
The Color of Money
Rounders
Mississipi Grind
>>64335989
Mississippi Grind is a recent one that isn't bad.
Croupier
Hard Eight
The Hustler
21
Croupier
The gambler

Oceans 11 was alright.
>>64336020
21 wasn't that bad. ....I wouldn't say 'great', but its good if you're bored and need something playing off to the side.
>The Cooler
>Rounders
>Mississipi Grind
>Croupier
>Hard Eight
>21
>The gambler
>Oceans 11
>Any of these above average
>Any of them even breaking even
YIKES

>California Spit
This is a masterpiece.

>>64336065
>The Hustler
>The Color of Money
These are okay.
The Big Short

>The Color of Money
Kill yourself, pleb.
I like 21 but desu senpai it's probably because I love Kevin Spacey
>>64336187
Ooh, Nice catch.
>>64336176
You sound like the most dreadful person to talk about movies with
>>64336198

The Gambler?
>>64336229
Never fucking reply to me again unless you're contributing to the thread.
>>64336176
Watch oceans 11, skip 12, and watch 13 if you want fun vegas movies.
Also Casino, but thats obvious.
>>64336212
I watched it last night, not the best movie but definitely a good movie about gambling and the 2008 collapse.
much better then wolf of wall street.
The Hustler, Casino, and Maverick are my favorite gambling movies.
Pic related gets an honorable mention. Its awesome.
>>64335989
post spreadsheets lid
Rounders
>>64336195
>implying the color of money is not a formal masterpiece and worth watching for the structuralist approach to editing alone
The Deer Hunter
>>64336020
I was going to say this as well
pretty good movie 2bh
>>64336274
I haven't seen it yet, but wanted to comment that people usually want a poker or craps table for it to be gambling.
>>64336304
>Formal
>structuralist approach to editing
Shut the fuck up, you ginormous fucking pleb faggot who can't express himself.
The movie was a shit sequel that fell flat.
>>64336319
The money gambled on the stock market is exponentially bigger then you'll find on any poker table in the world.
and it is gambling.
but I totally get what you mean, there has to be some bad ass movies about card counting.
>>64336356
oh I get it, you're a meme.
>>64336035
Not really, like Casino isn't really about it either but they're set in casinos.
Casino Royale, obviously
>>64336398
Isn't about gambling
>>64336356
>The movie was a shit sequel that fell flat.
>he cares about intertextual continuity
>>64336361
Of course it is. That's why I completely agree with your suggestion. Others would be Wall Street, Margin Call, and not as good but a guilty pleasure, Boiler Room.
>>64336372
I can't defend my lame ass suggestion through retarded word salad.
>>64335989
It's about gambling on pickup basketball not casino gaming but I think
White Men Can't Jump Qualifies
>Peak Rosie Perez titties
>the hollywood illusion that tiny Wesley Snipes can dunk
>those Blacktop Reeboks
>wearing a hat during basketball
>letting the cat out of the bag about sandbagging the first of 3 in a pickup game series for money
>>64336507
I already answered you. Or am I supposed to pretend this is a new pretentious fuck stick?
>>64336375
oh, it was just one of those " I've heard of that movie, read the synopsis before, and assumed it was about a great deal of gambling."
Just knew it was fairly decent
>>64336073
My nig
>>64336539
It does, and it a good suggestion.
>>64336567
>he thinks 4chan is the same guy out to get him

Owning Mahowny
Phillip See-More Hoffmann plays the least interesting man in the world who just happens to steal thousands of dollars from his clients' bank accounts so he can cross the border and gamble it all away in a neverending cycle of secret self-destruction. When it all comes tumbling down, he's responsible for $10 million in embezzlement.

>>64337018
Oceans 11 is a heist movie.
>>64336229
Fucking Reddit needs to leave
also this >>64337047
Rounders is honestly a fine gambling movie
Great performances and it keeps you anxious
>>64335989
It's animu, but I would definitely recommend Kaiji.
It's about a man who attempts to gamble his way out of debt. Very good thriller.
>>64336176
Hard Eight is the best film mentioned ITT.
>>64337317
i forgot mention it, indeed, it was entertaining
>>64337384
i'd like it to be more dinamic tho, they overstretched it quite much (imo)
The one with Jackie Gleason in it.
>>64337609
I feel that was a major flaw with the second season. The bog just drags on and on. While this has the benefit of increasing the payoff when Kaiji finally breaks it, the lead up stretches itself thin.
I think season one was excellently paced though. There's about five gambles, which lends much needed variety. Episodes usually push the plot along by introducing a new element to the gamble. A great example of this is in the rock paper scissors arc where Kaiji attempts several strategies, such as rigging the game by buying up all the rock cards.
That said though the monologues can drag on. We don't need to hear Kaiji repeat the same thing over and over to himself.
>>64337726
you should read the yu gi oh manga, at least book one I remember it being pretty damn awesome, and it's the only manga i've ever read.
