Boot glasses like that are a real thing and you can drink them with the toes up or down.
IIRC Toes down basically saves you a little bit of your drink for later, while toes up basically forces more of the drink down your throat faster as you drink it due to the increased water pressure (or I guess beer pressure) - hence why the challenge is to drink them with the toes up.
