it's the best combination of relevant sci-fi (both in the moment and eternally) and an actual trek movie.

TMP is a better sci-fi movie but is a bit derivative and shows less of an understanding and imagination, II is more of a revenge drama in a sci-fi environment, and IV is a really just a fun adventure. im not going to discuss the others even though I liked some of them

>>64269780
the list keeps changing, slightly. remember, all things change in a dynamic environment; your effort to remain what you are is what limits you. ;)

also im a fucking phoneposter

>>64269943
Yeah, that's fair. It's my third after IV and II, I'm glad you listed them.

5th element
Silent Hill
Good bad and the ugly
Dirty Harry ( I like them all)
Legend
V/H/S 2 ( I love found footage and can't really decide but this one might just be my favourite )
Leon

007: Live and let die
Pallion

1. Fellowship of the Ring
2. Assassination of Jesse James
3. Munich
4. No Country For Old Men
5. Pulp Fiction
6. American Psycho
7. Fargo
8. The Edge (yes, the 1997 one with hopkins)
9. The Fountain
10. Enemy

I always felt Munich was an underrated movie. It's the one Spielberg movie I can think of that didn't involve propaganda or heartstrings pulled by force, yet somehow everyone I come across is convinced it's pro-Jewish or something, when it's anything but.

So am I, but I still think Abrams' movies are boring as fuck, and I'm not even a Trek fan or anything.

What did you actually like about it?
>>
>>64270968

I'm a Trek fan and I liked it. I like how it took command of the storyline and made it its own.
>>
>>64270968
>>64271073
I feel the same way about 2009's Trek as I do about Jurassic World or The Force Awakens.
Love letters to the originals without anything particularly special about them, but cleverly done and enjoyable to fans of the franchise.
I'd give 7/10 to all three. Maybe 8/10 to Trek.

Apocalypse Now
Harakiri
Blade Runner
The Great Beauty
Mullholland Dr
Walkabout
Memories of Murder
Army of Shadows
There Will Be Blood
Marketa Lazarova

Yeah exactly. It's not like the original Star Trek movies weren't total homages to the TV shows anyway.

I don't agree at all. I at least liked Star Trek for being an actual reboot, and not trying to tie itself into the older stuff so much.

However, I despise the new Star Wars movie. I don't see how you can honestly believe it's cleverly done or enjoyable to "fans." If your idea of fan is some guy that likes them as I like capeshit (as in I watch them while multi-tasking and I've never read a single comic), then perhaps. But no one that's invested in the Star Wars setting would find this movie anything but a flimsy attempt.

I honestly wish they would've gone the whole way and put everything, from the OT to the EU under the legends label or whatever the fuck it's called. They should've done a full reboot, and used some originality.

I can appreciate thinking the movie was poorly done, and even thinking the whole thing was a pile of shit, but I don't think you can argue that there was a lot of love put into it. Abrams especially has wanted this for a very long time.
>>
>>64269125
Halloween 2 by Rob Zombie.
No Country for Old Men by Coens.

I guess those two are my favorites and rest of the movies are notch lower than them no matter how I look at them.

City of God
Amelie
Spirited Away
The Skin I Live In
Coraline

The Fellowship of the Ring
The Intouchables

Good taste, like all of those but I haven't seen Noroi. Is it good, or shit but you like it anyway?
>>
>>64271612
Definitely not for everyone. Some might think it's too slow but for me it's just right. It needs you to pay attention and make sure not to spoil yourself. I'd say give it a try at least.
>>
>>64271658
Alright, will add it to the list.

>pretty terrible but done with love

That is the general mark of bad fan fiction, yes.

>>64271710
Well, to be clear, I don't think it was terrible. I'm just saying I can appreciate the negative opinion.
