2001: A Space Odyssey is being removed from Netflix streaming on January 1st, 2016.
The last moments of 2015 watching the greatest film ever made? HELL YES....OR SHOULD I SAY, HAL YES!
>having picture quality at the mercy of a WiFi or even wired internet signal
Fucking disgusting plebeian redditors

why do they remove content from there?
why cant they just increase their servers?

This. Netflix is great for TV shows, but i always get the 1080p RARGHB BRD rips for film.

>Not having a reliable 150mbps Internet connection
Live must be hard in Botswana or wherever the fuck you live.

It has nothing to do with bandwidth or storage. All of their non-in-house content is purchased on a timed license.

License fees I assume. They can only afford a small number of non shit films at any one time.
>netflix
what the fuck is the point of this website people still use it?

This. They pay studios X amount of money for Y amount of time they can stream films.
Also, Netflix does not give a fuck if you are upset about them losing 2001 or any other film. Netflix has begun shedding pretty much all of their old film catalog to free up money instead for new original shows and to get cash for brand new movies. The later in particular, since they have given the fuck up on ever matching Hulu and Amazon for getting new TV shows up in a reasonable time frame. All they care about is getting the newest blockbuster on their site, meaning fuck you if you like older films.
