Don't be rude to us inventors of cinema.
There wouldn't be a /tv/ boar if not for the likes of inventors such as Lumière, Leprince or Meliès.

way to finally catch up faggot, this has been a known thing for decades. It's one of the most celebrated things about Star Wars, in fact.

Star Wars was Kurosawa in space (Kurosawa ripped off John Ford westerns). Add in some WWII air battle scenes turned into space battles, and there you have it. Flash Gordon was ripped off as well, but only superficially, like the opening crawl. Indiana Jones was a more blatant rip off of its source material. And episode 7 is a straight rip off of episode 4, with some elements of episode 5.

Melies invented movies, Chaplin invented flicks. Cinema was invented by Eisenstein.
>>64239885
Lucas borrowed from dozens of sources; old space operas from the 1930s, E E "Doc" Smith's Lord Tedric novels, Akira Kurosawa movies, Chris Foss artwork, viking saga...
J J Abrams borrowed from one source: George Lucas
>>64240770
How so?
All this means is JJ copied a script that was copied from something else.
>>64242480
That guy from Hugo? Nobody liked his movies.
No one ever invented: a helmet, a helmet being placed on burned face, a weirdo alien, a round spaceship, a metal bikini, and someone frozen in some sort of substance

Photography isn't filmmaking.

the secret to creativity is learning to cover up your sources, op

A friend of mine is of the opinion that the look of Indiana Jones is modeled on the character "Mr. Jones" played by Alan Ladd in the movie China(1943). What say you?
>>64245271
>mfw there was a droid like that in the bar scene in episode 7
All the expanded universe ever did was rehash the same plot of the originals and rip off WH40K left and right.
>>64245838
Wasn't Indiana Jones in itself a homage to films of that era?According to Steve and George, anyway.
>>64240201
>mfw it comes out and people say it ripped off Star Wars
>>64245838
jones is an extremely common last name, and everyone dressed like that in the 40's. The leather jackets were common because they were given to bomber air-crews. If he had a whip or always used a revolver I would say you're on to something
