I find this kind of shit really boring.
>>64204450
This is absolutely horrible. 2/5 wouldn't watch again if they paid me

>theres a worse oscarbait than the annual Will Smith oscarbait
I found Spotlight tedious and predictable. Though I guess I'm cheating since I was following as the scandal broke out. It'll be The King's Speech of 2015.
Waiting for the fags to start sperging all over this thread with their autistic french arthouse films that literally nobody cares about

The story was good. How the Catholic church was facilitating sex abuse and covering it up for years with the complicity of local authorities and community figures. The movie was meh and just made me want to read a book about the whole debacle instead of the hamhanded theatrical version of the story.
>watched only two movies this year
>neither were good
>don't feel like I missed out on anything
Why do you people even bother with movies?

I was a bit disappointed by it desu.
Whistle Blower (2014) was a much better investigative journalism film, it took a bit of a wider look at the press's relationship with the public and the guy they where accusing whereas spotlight was a bit too shallow narativley in my opinion.
My moty so far is probably Macbeth, but I've only seen a couple of the recent screeners so far and I've pretty high expectations for The Throne.
1. Phoenix
2. Sicario
3. Carol

Soreasstino's worst

never saw any of his other stuff and saw this one in a empty theater so I really enjoyed it
>>64206672
Watch The Great Beauty, similar themes but done better
Dogtooth is still my favourite Yorgo, but this was a real gem this year
Mad Max Fury Road

It fell apart with Quentin's autismo narration.
"Queen of Earth" is the best, the most interesting, and the beautiful movie of the year (to me, the three titles mean the same thing).
I know, I know, I'm a pleb fuck.

Spotlight was a dry "true crime" drama with an ensemble cast that is just so unremarkable in every way. It's really bad when the only standout is a very subdued Michael Keaton. There's no tension and a lot of boring scenes of looking through records. Yawn. Mark Ruffalo was absolutely terrible, with the worst performance I've seen him give. I don't even understand what he was going for. You can get away with making a movie this dull if the subject matter is actually intricate and complex OR if the characters are vibrant enough to carry through the slower scenes. See: John le Carre adaptations. I just don't know why Spotlight is being talked about as a serious Oscar contender.

I really liked the first hour of this and then I wanted to turn it off halfway through hour two, should have been a 1:30h flick
>>64209566
This.
>>64208187
This is great. Made me want to see more films with only a handful of characters in a limited setting.
>>64209752
check this one out. it's pretty awesome.
>>64209796
Will do. I had seen Repulsion prior to Queen of the Earth. So Polanski was already somewhere in my mind while I was watching it.
Star Wars The Force Awakens
>>64210095
Any tip on where I can watch that online?
>>64208187
this movie was a pleasure
>>64209239
am I the only one who thought blackhat was boring as shit?
it was just something about the tone that all mann's movies have, combined with the complete lack of acting ability by any of the leads that sent me off to sleep in a matter of minutes
Definitely Steve Jobs

I didn't find it boring at all but them's the breaks.
Mistress America.

To add tension try made Mark Ruffalo always late and made him keep on running.
There was such a lack of tension that if they published the article a year later it would still have the same impact.
>>64210684
The moment with the most tension was a guy circling a piece of paper.
Premiered on Sundance in 2014 but was released in 2015
