Why? It means an eternity of suffering in the afterlife. Your soul is the most valuable thing you own.
Don't do what Hermant Mehta, an atheist did. He sold his soul, what a fucking idiot.

According to the Bible and according to people who experienced Near Death Experiences and knew things they possibly couldn't have like what some people were doing in another room while they were coding.

>Atheist professor’s near-death experience in hell left him changed
http://whitecrowbooks.com/features/page/atheist_professors_near-death_experience_in_hell_left_him_changed
The selling of a soul is an evil act because it is not for sale, to try and sell it is a defiant act against God in that you're willing to abandon God in order to short term happiness just to be a slave in the afterlife.
It follow the same logic of suicide being a sin, people who commit suicide have given up hope and thus given up on God, thus it is a damnable defense, but the almighty is capable of forgiveness so no one can declare anyone else to be certain to be damned or of redemption as no one knows what was in a man's heart in his final hour and what happened between him and God.
But trying to sell a soul goes against God. Never do shit like that.
