More people gonna suck Hardy's dick for an average performance? Another performance of terrible accents where most people can't understand what he's saying, this time being a Jeff Bridges voice?

I guess that has to do with the ridiculous bear rape scene. But I read into the back story of these people (real frontiersmen in the early 19th century), and the movie did a lot of aggrandisement. Not that the West was a peaceful place back then, but I suspect in reality these people were much more civilised in real life.

Tom Hardy channeled the guy who played Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs; I seriously thought it was that guy, and wondered why he looked so young. I didn't even know that was Hardy until after the movie.

I kept visualizing Fitzpatrick rubbing his scalp in front of a mirror saying, "Would you fuck me? I'd fuck me."

Because from what I understand about grizzlies, with the amount of time it had with Leo, his body should have been at least ripped in half, and his head chewed off. Instead it just playfully paws at him and sniffs his head.
>>
in my top 3 best movies this year

I think leo's role got over hyped though, I think more about the environment and the plot
>>
Beautiful natural cinematography, Tom Hardy is great but it was more abut the performance than a film.
Inarritu seems to jerk off in front of his long steady cam shot. He doesn't do those shots because they make sense to the way he wants to tell this story, he does it because he has a cult of performance. He's an athlete of filmmaking.
Leo is not impressive at all, physical performance again, he gets outplayed by Hardy everytime who's way more tense.
>>
Still no webm of the bear attack?
>>
>>64150833
fitzgerald wasn't a bad guy in the traditional sense, but he was certainly less honorable than most of his peers. desu i identified with him quite strongly and i agree with you for the most part. in that environment in those circumstances i could see myself doing all of the things he did; stress and survival instinct drive people to make rash decisions - he was just in constant fight or flight mode

after the first attack glass was played dead and the bear went and checked on the cubs, which is realistic, then came back to check him out/finish the job. don't forget, humans aren't normal bear prey and the bear was probably as stunned af too and wasn't acting in a normal manner, but yeah, the vast majority of the time he would have been dead after the first attack, he just got lucky i guess

My girlfriend's dad is a zoologist, she's getting her master's in biology and my buddy who's going to be a park ranger at Bob Marshall all lost their shit at that scene because of how well done the bear behavior was, according to them. I thought how much it ignored his neck was a little odd too but I ain't no bear expert.

>>64153168

Eh he was a pretty bad guy. To me it came off that he took the job of seeing Glass off to grab the $200 bucks and then let him die/kill him anyway. He was motivated by greed and when Glass' kid caught him he just kept digging a hole for himself.

Glass' kid was a little bitch though

I liked it.
Simple story
Gorgeous Man vs Nature photography and general cinematography
Good performances by Hardy and DiCaprio, but nothing to write home about.
Great climatic battle at the end.

I really enjoyed the movie. It wasn't lolsodeep like Birdman, but it doesn't have to be. It's a great way to show how brutal nature is and how small a man is, which was the whole point of the movie, I think. Lubeski's gonna get his hat trick.

I really like the duration of the nature porn shots, but I don't mind slow movies.

Also, what is it with dicaprio's roles always have him doing his weird-ass cough? Is that in his contract or something? I've watched catch me if you can, the wolf of wall street and the revenant in the last 2 or 3 weeks and he does it every fucking time.

I really really don't like the director, and my guess is that many other people here don't give a shit about his garbage either.

my one big criticism of the entire film was fitz robbing the safe. to begin with, he'd probably never used a safe in his life, maybe not even seen one close up, and he only has a few minutes from when filcher gets back to make his getaway and he somehow manages to crack the safe and rob it while gathering all of his shit for a weeks long innawoods trip in the middle of winter

>>
>>64157712
I didn't have as big a problem with that as I did cutting away when he and the Captain shot at each other, as if there was any doubt as to who got the better of that. Just show it.
>>
Movie was boring and formulaic. It got ridiculous after awhile with how much shit happens to Leo so that is why critics maybe called it a comedy. The movie just played it very safe and it was a snoozefest, they just wanted to hurry out and put some frontier movie out with Leos name attached and make quick bucks.
>>
>>64157712
Didn't think that was completely unbelievable, the moment the french dude told them Leo could be alive, Hardys character knew he was fucked, from then on he had enough time to act.

About the movie, I liked it, I didnt find it boring, and thought they really could transmit the shit that Leo was going through.

As for his performance, its hard to say it was good since for 90% of the movie hes grunting, moaning and dragging himself in the snow.

Also, were we supposed to sympathise with Hardys character? Really felt sorry for him in the end, and wished he could've escaped, in the end he only wanted to survive.

Also thought his final lines about Leos revenge were a nice touch, the thing about how he wouldn't get his son back.
>>
>>64158035
Yes, thats what I thought. He kind of exagerated all the shit that Leo goes through, at some point youre just "Ah, cmon".
Isnt it based in a true story, I wonder what the true story is like.
>>
another potentially interesting movie ruined by the hamfisted shoe'd-in anti-white noble savage plot

there was no indian son the evil white guy killed, glass just wanted his guns back he didnt even kill fitzgerald. dont know what that flashback about the evil army was guy about either. the injuns themselves werent looking for some girl, they were just going around robbing people.
>>
The whole ending sequence seemed rushed. They should have just made them finding out Leo is alive at the end of the 2nd act and have the entire 3rd act Hardy running away and Leo chasing.
