How did such a great director manage to mess up so much with Dune (according to critics)?
Is it worth watching?

Pull down your pants, tuck your weak faggot boner between your legs, bend over and show us your boy pussy you raging fucking fag.

The shit is just so goddam dense. Hard to make into a 2-hour movie

Dune was hell production. Also lynch was not allowed final cut and he pretty much disowned It all
Dune is a perfectly acceptable movie and the only other good thing he ever did was Elephant Man
>>64125645
The studio fucked it up much more than he did, but Lynch definitely got carried away with the budget.
It was for the best though, we might never have gotten Mulholland Drive and Blue Velvet, and instead he might've become faux-art trash like Nolan

He's not a great director, I'm afraid.

I really liked Dune. I was surprised by the amount of people that don't like it. Also I ordered the book today.

lynch is a hack but half of the meat of dune is paul's internal monologue. it'll never be made into a good movie.
>>64125645
Yes. Frank Herbert gave the thumbs up on it. It's Dune autists that hate it.
>>64125699
First half of the book is probably the best thing in all of Science Fiction. The second half, meh.

Actually Dune is an awesome movie in many respects. It has deservedly become a cult-classic. A horrible, uneven mess to be sure, but a classic nonetheless.
The soundtrack should rank amidst the legendary sounds of the 80s.

The only Lynch I haven't seen. Loved all the rest.
>>64125727
at least in the second half paul isn't as much of an apathetic cuck as he is in dune messiah
Also, just saw Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. It's a pretty good film.

>Liking his two worst films.
Holy fuck so many replies in such a short time. This board is well-frequented.

I didn't even bother with the sequels. It became a little obvious after the coup that Herbert had become far more concerned with plot progression than characterization, which is never a good thing.
Characters > Theme > Plot is the nature of any good work of art

Everyone secretly knows that Mulholland Drive is the best movie of the century so far, and Lynch is essentially God.
Lynch failed. Flat out. I fucking hate when people take all the blame off of him and put it on the studio. Bull fucking shit. He couldn't handle a big production. He gave up.
What does /Art House/ think about pic related?
