Did we liked him because he was an underdog/loser character in the movie?
>generic stormtrooper until Poe renamed him like a dog
>worked as janitor
>as a stormtrooper and unlike Rey, he had a combat training with a gun and melee weapons
>he still lost to a stormtrooper with an axe and was saved by Solo
>he lost with Kylo Ren and had to be rescued by Rey
>can't use the force
>he is a coward who want to escape the Order
He is basically a polar opposite to Rey Sue character.
literally roger wilco
Because he was the only one with character flaws that actually allowed us to relate with

I liked him because he was the only actor who did any sort of good acting in the movie. His character was just as poorly written as everyone else in the movie, though.
Hopefully Boyega goes on to bigger and better things after the Disney Star Wars garbage.

Adam Driver did a fantastic job even if you don't like the way his character is written
He's flawed but charming. He also has an arc, unlike Rey. He starts off reluctant and cowardly, and eventually decides to fight with the Resistance.

He was great. And even though Rey is obviously the new action hero, he felt more like the protagonist. We see his entire story develop, from a stormtrooper on the run to a member of the resistance with a crush on a scavenger.
Rey is just a mistery, and much harder to relate to.
