Why was this movie such a fucking mess.

What are your hopes for the next one.
>>
I hope for a black transgendered Bond
>>
Can they just have whoever directed and wrote Casino Royale back? I don't get why its so hard to make a good Bond movie.
>>
>>64108594
Campbell said he's never going to make another Bond movie again because it's a childish franchise that just keeps recycling the same old tired formula (aka chase scene at the beginning, big bad does big bad stuff, fuck woman, action scene, fuck another woman, chase scene, action scene, epilogue, main theme)
>>
>>64108653
They should change that and make the series better
>>
>>64108520
I marathoned the whole movie, I really liked it. Felt like a proper bond film.
>>
>>64108653

>childish franchise
>directs the green lantern
>>
>>64108653
They just need to set the movie in an isolated location again. Like a cruise ship or a tropical resort, so they aren't constantly throwing the movie into new locations around the globe just for setpieces and are actually forced to work on the story.
>>
>>64108520
Bad script. Weak vilain, even though they had a based actor...but they completely ruined his character and the whole Spectre doesn't look as threatening as it should have been.
Daniel Craig was a great Bond imo but like many others, he's had unfortunate films during his Bond time.
Spectre ends with a perfect exit door for his incarnation.
At this point, i think it's either they get a new Bond and move on from that point, but actually make Spectre more threatening...or they just stop the franchise for a while and rethink the whole idea.
>>
They should just kill the franchise.

They're not going to make a proper Bond film, it's all this post-ironic, non-misogynist Bond bullshit.

The producers have been infected with SJW disease and are more concerned with making strong female characters and having Bond fuck old women than actually honoring the legacy.
>>
>>64108653
I mean...is it impossible to change that formula? Casino Royale shook it up a bit while keeping the overall tone of Bond consistent with the rest of the franchise.
>>
>>64108671
you can't. The James Bond franchise is a money business and it's impossible to justify to a board of suits that you want to change something about it. No director wants to risk their entire career just to make an original Bond movie. If it sucks or audience reception is poor you're never going to work in the business again without some higher up friends who can finance you.
>>
>>64108520
still waiting for them to do a space bond with guardians of the galaxy crossover
>>
I feel like Seydoux was really wasted on this film. She's the best actress this series has had since Eva Green, yet her character was so lame.
>>
>>64108710
you are asking me if it's impossible to change the formula by using Royale as an example that stuck exactly to that formula?
>>
>>64108714
Wut? Several directors have made bombs only to be given chance and chance again to make something better.
>>
>>64108706
it's not gonna stop. Even if they had 3 terrible Bond movies, they'd just think it's because of the actor and the scripts and they'd change writers and the actor but i think maybe the producers have been a bit too involved in the writing.
>>
>>64108706

>non misogynistic
>last film has him lament a waste of alcohol over a woman's life
>>
>>64108714
Nolan did it with batman
Im sure someone could do it with bond
>>
>>64108751
of course there are plenty of directors that sucked and still made movies. But with established franchises in particular you can't just walk up to them and ask for more leeway in terms of changing up the formula because in the end they are going to make YOU responsible. They won't fucking allow someone to just change the formula because to them the only reason those movies make money is because they assume a James Bond movie has to be made based entirely around that formula.
>>
>>64108732
Her character was lame but she still didn't play it well also.
>>
>>64108706
i'd watch a lady bond where she has lesbian scenes with with hot chicks, you know what, forget the bond part
>>
I wish Batista was good

I mean he was okay but they could have made him iconic like Jaws/Oddjob and instead he's just a mook
>>
>Spectre
>>
>>64108796
Nolan didn't change the formula. He changed the tone. That's a significant difference. Casino Royale's tone was also significantly different from any of the previous Bond movies. Structure isn't the same thing as tone. You can't have a Bond movie without Bond fucking someone and chase scenes and the obligatory "look at this cool new gadget"
>>
If they are staying gritty, then they need to remove the car/vodka/watch adverts and the shit stories
>>
>>64108796
Nolan did an interpretation of Batman, and there had been no other Batman films for more than 10 years.
The Bond franchise never really stopped, so there's no comparison. And Casino Royale was a real reboot of the character, so they can't reboot it again, they just need to make better movies.
>>
this movie featured a car chase so boring that they let bond make a lengthy phone call during it.

let that sink in a bit.
>>
>>64108823
He was incredibly intimidating in the train fight. Waste of a character.

What the hell did he even say before he got yanked off the train, and did they actually dub over Batista's voice
>>
>Why would M wait until she was dead to make sure Bond got the message to seek out Sciarra, a Spectre operative in Mexico City, especially if Sciarra had plans to commit acts of terrorism? Did no one else have a file on Sciarra? Did she know she was going to die?

>Bond goes to Sciarra’s funeral for no reason, and putting himself at risk of being identified by people who may have known Sciarra. He then fucks Sciarra’s wife after saving her from being killed. She had no reason to be saved, and he had no reason to see her. She tells him about the existence of Spectre, the shadow organization that James Bond and others already knew existed.

>Spectre is shown to be a powerful organization where politicians and businessmen govern from the shadows to further their interests. Positions are held by rich and powerful men and women who fear the wrath of Franz Oberhauser. When a position is to be filled, it isn’t done so with skill and intrigue. Instead, a pro-wrestler jabs a man’s eyes out and deems himself suitable for the position. No one opposes this.
>>
>>64108821
A Jane Bond so to speak? It doesn't make any sense though. Why name her Bond when you can have tons of other agent films, and actually create a real new franchise for a female agent?
>>
>>64108848
Well if they ever do reboot the series, they should always consider what Nolan was able to do with Batman
>>
>If Spectre wanted Mr. White dead, why would they put radiation or whatever in his phone? Why let him stay alive long enough to divulge information about the whereabouts of his daughter? We’ve seen previously that Spectre kills suspected leaks without mercy.

>Mr. White tells James Bond to find L’American, but doesn’t tell him that it is a hotel. There is no reason not to tell him it’s a hotel. Spectre already knows that this hotel exists because Mr. White worked for them through Quantum, so why not cover their tracks? They’re totally willing to destroy their bases to over their tracks, so why not a small hotel? James Bond has to wait until he saves Madeline to find out about the hotel.

>Nitpicking, but relevant: A close analysis of Sciarra’s ring shows a “DNA Match” connecting Le Chiffre, Green, and Silva to Franz Oberhauser. Did anyone else notice this when Q was analyzing the ring? They did not all wear the same ring.
>>
>>64108887
I think that Skyfall was very inspired by what Nolan did.
>>
>L’American has a secret room that cannot be entered unless the flimsy wall is broken down. The wall was built to keep the information inside from being found. Why not destroy the information if you didn’t plan on entering the room ever again? Why build a wall if you intended to get back to the room to access the info?

>There is no reason for the pro-wrestler to attack Bond on the train to the desert. Oberhauser was expecting him to turn up at the crater anyway, that's why he sent the car to pick them up.

>Franz Oberhauser is evil because he has daddy issues. He thinks James Bond supplanted him as son. This is the best writers could do to connect the two characters instead of saying that they were both recruited for the 00 Agent program and Oberhauser chose to use his skills for evil or something else. Too bad they used that idea in Goldeneye and Skyfall!
>>
>>64108937
L'American was a shitty name.
>>
>>64108867
Sam Mendes wanted to film a big spectacle opening in Mexico City, so he threw together some terrible writing to make it work, same with Rome, and same with Monica Bellucci entire being in the film.
>>
>Madeline Swann chooses to leave the safety of Bond and friends because she cannot tolerate a life of espionage, knowing full-well that she is still being hunted by the shadow organization she is fighting. She is captured immediately afterward, like, literally seconds afterward.

>Blofeld, who has absolutely no reason to be in London, personally oversees the arming and detonation of a building to kill James Bond. The head of a huge shadow organization decides to do this personally, putting himself at risk of getting caught by authorities. He is ultimately caught by these authorities.

>A fully-fueled boat is docked at the MI-6 headquarters which is armed for demolition. There is literally no reason for this boat to be there if the building has been rigged for demolition. This allows Bond to chase down a helicopter with a single bullet, which is ridiculous because only an hour prior we witnessed a chase sequence with a mostly-destroyed airplane surviving impossible obstacles and disable two SUVs. The start of the film shows a helicopter doing all kinds of loops and tricks without any trouble.

>>Campbell said he's never going to make another Bond movie again because it's a childish franchise that just keeps recycling the same old tired formula
this guy bites the hands which feeds him. the guy pertains to the entertainment industry; but sure, it is the fault of anybody else but him
>>
>Bond, who has a license to kill and no reason to let Blofeld live, lets Blofeld live. There is no reason to show mercy to a man who is so powerful and well-connected he will escape the authorities and continue to run Spectre. After all, Silva (in Skyfall) wasn’t in custody for long, was he?
>>
>>64108937
Was Oberhauser supposed to be Blofeld? Or is it not confirmed at all? At the end, he's got the famous scar of Blofeld. Will it be his new alias name?
>>
>>64108520
worst studio in the business has the rights

Sony should be too broke to retain rights after thos movie, so there is hope.
>>
>>64108958
You understand that the writing is the easiest part of making a film, right?

Like, you can just imagine things that make sense to give characters a reason to be there.
>>
>>64108997
Did you watch the movie? He talks about it.

Also what was the point of needling Bond's brain, that didn't do anything at all.
>>
>>64108997
He literally says in the movie that he goes under the name Ernst Stavro Blofeld
>>
>>64109048
>>64109057
Ah well i guess i was getting bored and missed it.
Makes sense.
>>
>>64108520
I hope Craig gets the boot and we get a new Bond that's a transgender muslim with an adopted black baby and a life partner.
>>
>>64109076
I think they could go for Jon Hamm
>>
>>64109111
not british
>>
>we need to go kill Mr White just kidding we poisoned his phone with a contact poison but we're till sending the big guy luckily everyone knows where he is hiding but hasn't acted yet even though he is wanted by both spectre and mi6
>>
>>64109141
lol i think that doesn't matter so much. I'd rather have an american Bond than a transgender or a female Bond or a nigga Bond.
