>Had literally zero screen time showing the New Republic and anyone even involved
>Didn't show anything about the New Republic corruption, just Leia casually mentioning it in passing
Why the fuck was this shit not given screen time, yet we had to have a 15 minute long LE WACKY MONSTERS ON A FREIGHTER sequence? It would have given the movie so much more emotional weight, instead of "these planets that have never been heard of or scene in ANY Star Wars media (even the EU didn't cover them) are now blown up".
Also:
>Not ending the fight between Rey and Kylo with them being on opposite ends when the ground splits, but both still able to keep fighting, instead of him laying there defeated
It would have let you know Rey can fight and would stand a chance against him, but he didn't fight with his full potential because he was trying to turn her.
CUck.

>wanting boring political shit after the prequels
kek
Because JJ is a television writer way over his head.
It's not as if politics is inherently boring, most fairy tales elucidate a great number of court intrigues.
>>64108069
Quite simple: JJ was terrified of doing anything remotely political to avoid being like the prequels. But he took that so far that he doesn't even explain what's going on.
Kylo being defeated means he will be more of a whiny spaz since he was beaten by a girl with no training and he's suppose to be a Sith.

>676th Star Wars thread of the day.

You should honestly consider killing yourself.

>most fairy tales elucidate a great number of court intrigues.
This is completely false.
>>64108069
Because they can use the sequels to expand upon those points instead of cramming it into a movie that's just meant to reintroduce people.
Half of the shit in this movie happened without any reason. As you pointed out, the MF fight shouldn't have been there, it brought nothing to the story, we didn't learn anything new about the characters, it was there just because someone thought the movie needs an action sequence. Same goes for the unnecessary drama with the pilot supposedly dead when he and Finn crashed to Jakku, am I supposed to care about some shitty joke character that you just introduced five minutes ago ? Why even pretend to kill him ? Why was the fight between Finn and the Traitor trooper included, the only good thing that came with it, which was the trooper was later killed by Solo. There is also a lot more shit like this. The directors could have just removed half of the film and this would not have changed the storyline in any way.

All that political shit is what made the prequels garbage. A New Hope is told almost entirely from Luke's perspective, just some farm kid, on the ground, in the thick of it. They never paused to explain the politics of the Empire and the Rebellion because nobody fucking cared. It was just a sweet-ass adventure about a down-to-Earth kid you can identify with. But then the prequels are all "Galactic Senate this" and "Trade Federation that", and they completely ruined the tone of the movies. First Order bad, Resistance good. That's all that fucking matters, because it's a fucking kid's movie.

How come no one knows this, yet?

this
>spend an hour discussing politics of the new republic
>only for the whole deal to be eradicated in one hit by new terror weapon
Do you understand now?

This post is worth... one quarter portion.
>>64109323
Anyone notice that it was, I'm pretty fucking sure, the fucking portions guy's voice saying "come on" while grabbing little kid Rey's arm in her flashback/vision sequence on touching the saber?

>Watching the film and not having an idea on the political climate without prequel-tier spoonfeeding
You're a special kind of stupid aren't you?

The planets were an excuse to spare Coruscant and Naboo.

ANH told you everything you needed to know through visuals, don't act like it didn't explain anything
TFA told you nothing

Can't have that in JJ's running and screaming ADHD fest.

He can't, because they don't.

...Kasdan wrote the film, just like Empire. Why do people think JJ sat around a table writing Star Wars?
>Didn't show anything about the New Republic corruption, just Leia casually mentioning it in passing
Resistance has to take outer planet base. The republic only cares about republic planets.
