Her role in the first movie was obviously just to be a sidelined character built for the sequels but introduced for MERCHANDISING and maybe character development but probably not?
I guess you could say the same for Luke.
Although Luke was just more of the macguffin than a side character.
Either way they could have at least fucking showed her get thrown into the trash instead of just a cut from the funny dialog to never showing up once afterwards.

Should've just been titled Star Wars: Han Solo Dies and His Son's the New Villain. I really have no idea why this was a movie and not a webcomic or something for the real star wars movie. It would've merchandised plenty well and we would've had room for actual plot.

You do realize that
a) the millennium falcon had no hyperdrive at the time, meaning he could basically tell exactly where they're headed by just looking at their general trajectory and a map
b) his entire job was to locate them, and it was the empire that capture them
His involvement in the entire movie franchise, is (probably by luck) happening across the millennium falcon amongs the garbage, and telling the empire about it.
Beyond that, the only accomplishment he does we know of, is that he's such a pathetic excuse for a Bounty Hunter, that he personally had to be reminded that a live bounty means no incinerations.

Double bounties on the Falcon/Han. He told the Empire his location, then planned on taking him to Jabba for even more space dosh. Even if Vader did kill him, the Empire was going to pay off the Jabba bounty too. It was a win/win for him.
