Different Anon, but I'd like to recommend you watch the whole thing if you haven't already.
The Angel bit doesn't really come back that much, you just got to remember what wasn't taken from the kid, and then in the end, the context will make the whole thing make a bit more sense.
It's one of those films you really need to just go through once, and then maybe another time or two to get the point of.

The Highlander is great as 80's cheese. Watch it with that in mind and you will be sweet.
The score is amazing though. Some of Queens best work.
