I was the only one laughing out loud at the quicker paced jokes inside the diologue, but every nut shot or someone getting punched in the face or a little kid saying a swear word had the entire theater howling. I see how hollywood has to make sure to include at least one obvious punch line nut shot type joke complete with a pause right afterwards so people are totally sure they're supposed to laugh there about once every 15 minutes. There was actually some pretty clever banter in the movie, especially with Will Ferrell's boss. But it was inside plot- moving diologue, so plebs didn't know a joke just happened. There were a bunch of funny back and forth between Ferrell and Wahlberg.

My girlfriend spent the whole movie nudging me whenever the real dad done something impressive or attractive, as if to say "he's cooler than you".
The movie was hilarious, but I couldn't help but feel a bit like the dud who no one wants unless I'm capable of earning heaps of money and being a pushover.
You could feel that they were building to something at the end to make up for all the shit that the step-dad went through, but the pay-off just wasn't good enough.

So she's not over the real dad and now that he's showing responsibility she knows he's better than the dork she's stuck with.
