So is this how it is?

Every retard can use a lightsaber now without any sort of training?
>>
I feel like I could do alright with a lightsaber.
>>
It's a fucking sword. Plus Finn wasn't even good at using it because he never had any experience.
>>
No, he fucking sucked ass at it. He couldn't do shit and got his ass kicked. Even the fucking girl had to "realize the power of the force" or whatever before she started to fight decently.
>>
>>64069994

The light saber fights were kind of nice too not see them so over the top choreographed.
>>
he probably had basic melee weapons training in evil stormtrooper academy.
>>
>>64070065
Finn who used to be a stormtrooper used the lightsaber twice in the movie and got his shit rekt

Rey who searched around trash for a living only used the lightsaber once when she fought Kylo and she fucked Kylo's shit up

how

The consequences of picking up and igniting a light saber by people who aren't trained jedi has always been binary: you either shut it off and put it down or you chop your own limbs off.
Finn isn't a veteran Trooper, or even a competent one. Everything about him screams "we had a recruitment quota and scaled back to let a few retards in.".
>>
>>64070213
Ren was also wounded and bleeding before the fight.
>>
>>64070213

>Rey is melee build
>Rey was getting shit pushed in
>Rey rallied after accepting the force
>Manages to wound an already battered enemy before plate tectonics breaks up the fight

It wasnt too far out of the realm of believability
>>
>>64070114
Quick, grab a full sized Maglite, turn it on and start playing around with it like a light saber the way an autistic 7 year old would. Keep track of how many times the light crosses over your own body. It doesnt matter if he has a passing knowledge of Vibroblades and Rykk Blades, light sabers don't have any of the same feel as them.

According to the EU it was incredibly dangerous for those who were not force sensitive and untrained.
Incredibly.
Swords are dangerous as fuck IRL to some idiot with no experience/respect playing with them.
The EU had some experienced non-force-sensitive Vibro-swordsmen/martial artists able to utilize a lightsaber competently but nowhere near a jedi

There were several Mercs/Mandalorians who had them as battlefield trophy's who would use them - like this
A: Dude would ram an unlit saber into a guys chest, fire it, slice if needed, and unlight it
B. Jabs unlit saber out, lights it, swings it around keeping the blade pointed outwards like a fencer, unlights it as soon as possible.

There were plenty of idiots who got their hands on one and cut off their limbs/face/genitalia/fingers/legs/eyes/nose/ears or killed a buddy, etc

So is Finn trained?
Yes he would have training in riot baton and vibro-blade use, at least the whole point of stormtroopers in the first order is they are better trained because less is more - they have to make do with less manpower.

Is he force sensitive?
Most likely
Weakly
But most likely
Yeah there were Jedi with weaker force connections.

One famous story from I think KOTOR, low rent merc gets his hands on a lightsaber, fires it, swings it around like a jackass (remember it's basically a heavy flashlight weight wise) catches two of his buddy's in the head/neck area, and by the time he realizes what he's done he's cut his own nose and a good chunk of his face off, his entire arm falls off as he goes to clutch the huge wound in his leg
>>
Fucking everyone has midochlorians. So its not like you need "the force" to wield a lightsabre. Finn also sucked ass at using it like he should.

That's not how Finn or Rey would fight.
Lightsaber blades aren't weightless, it's not like the handle is really heavy when everyone talks about them having weight.

>Every retard can use a lightsaber now without any sort of training?

They always could.

It has an on button just like a flashlight.

Finn didn't need to have taken Weapon Proficiency (Lightsaber) at level 1 just to be able to "equip" a lightsaber because the whole world doesn't abide by the rules of your sad little video games.

This thread is autistic. Commence with the memes.

Every fucking nerd who picks up a stick can use a lightsaber just as competently as Finn did in this movie.

For the most part he was using it on Stormtroopers.
>>
>>64073521
That's bullshit. The blade has no weight, so it's not even close to being the same as a stick. You need to be constantly aware of the blade's position.

>its just a sword, anyone can swing it
Right, well, the moment you abandon this fantastical cliche you void the rest. You may as well write in that it's possible to learn the dark side in order to do good as an ally of the jedi.
>>
>>64073590
Complete conjecture. We can tell both from the way they're spun in the prequels and in their flight ballistics when thrown in Return of the Jedi that lightsaber blades do have weight.

However even the blade did have no weight it still wouldn't be much more difficult to wield it the way Finn does in the movie (long heavy handed sweeps). It would only be difficult and lethal to do prequel wushu with them.

You guys are acting as if there was any competent sword fighting on display in this movie let alone from Finn whose choreography was obviously meant to be clumsy and amateur.

Aren't stormtroopers like super well trained soldiers cloned from one of the best bounty hunters in the galaxy? Where does this meme come from that they're completely incompetent. They only look retarded when they're fighting fucking jedi knights.
>>
>>64073745
Boba and the Clones were copies of the an elite galactic bounty hunter and trained from birth in the prequels.

The Stormtroopers in the original trilogy were conscripts and volunteers from all over the galaxy.
>>
>>64073745
Even so he was one of them and had a lightsaber. What I meant was they were essentially defenceless against it.
>>

Nevermind, disregard that.

I see my mistake.

Chalk it up to Finn having luck on his side.

Where the hell did this whole "You have to be force sensitive to use a lightsaber" thing come from anyway? That's NEVER been the case.

You have to be force sensitive to be proficient with one, but otherwise, it's like literally any other weapon, you just pick it up and swing it around
>>
>>64070230
Oh shit! Someone gave a hint of enjoying something! He must be from reddit!

>>64070547
Han uses it in the beginning of Empire just fine.

But Finn was basically the janitor. He was shit at being a soldier and probably worked for free
>>
It has never been stated anywhere in the history of Star Wars lore that only force sensitives can wield lightsabers. Ever.

The idea is that force sensitives are the only people that can wield lightsabers to their full potential, but that's not the same thing.

In fact, across the history of Star Wars, movies or EU or whatever, there's a lower percentage of maimings and dismemberments with lightsabers among non-force users than there are force users.
>>
>Every retard can

Give it a try and find out, OP.

That's how it has always been.

Doesn't mean you can use it well.
>>
>>64073962
Except the blade is weightless so it moves faster than the human mind can track. Only force users (and some like Grievous who were just enhanced out the ass) have the spacial awareness to use it in a fight and not accidentally behead themselves.
>>
People aren't complaining that others are using the lightsaber but that Rey Defeated a well trained dark side user via sword fight which is silly. Imagine going against a knight or a samurai after just picking up a sword for the first time. Sure you can hold it but can you effectively fight with it? No. I think this point is even more valid in star wars universe as Kylos been through training from luke and Snoke. It was a bad decision on the Jewrector in my opinion.
>>
>>64070213
Kylo got shot in the dick by Chewie before they fought.
>>
>>64074198
>Except the blade is weightless so it moves faster than the human mind can track.

Okay, let's talk about bladed weapons for a second.

For the most part, bladed weapons, and especially one handed bladed weapons go through a process called weighting. This means there is a weight toward the bottom of the blade, behind where you would hold it, equal to or greater than the blade itself, meaning, if the weapon is weighted properly, the blade is, effectively, weightless.

If you can wield a foil or a scimitar without killing yourself, you can wield a lightsaber.

And even if that wasn't the case, "Point the glowy bit at the other guy" Isn't fucking rocket science. A lightsaber isn't going to magnetically attract itself to your neck and arm sockets if you're not force inclined.
>>
>>64074291
True, but if that's how he was defeated they should have put more emphasis on that.
>>
>>64074251
Kylo Ren was also

>Had never actually encountered another force wielder before and wasn't used to fighting someone one equal footing
>>
>>64074330
He was shot, that's all you got. Saying he was weakened from Finn has to be a joke. Finn got his ass handed to him by a stormtrooper and you're saying hes weakened from the Finn fight? He trained with luke until he went to the dark side where he trained with Snoke and you're saying he's not used to fighting force users? Use your head stop trying to justify a terrible seen.
>>
>>64074291

>and after, walked around beating on his got topic corset like a fucking work an

On the real though, was no one rise pisses how they totally Yoda'd Chewie? as in, they took a once strong but soft spoken character and greatly overplayed his importance, 'coolness' and painted them a goofball. Has to be for the kids. If there's no Jar Jar, by God they'll make a charcter him.

Certainly the bowcaster is a neato, but completely impractical design, weapon. But so.much so that we had to highlight it 2-3 times. Also tfw you serving your lifedebt for 30+ years and only notices your primary weapon right before he dies
>>
>>64070356
>you either shut it off and put it down or you chop your own limbs off

This is non-canon bullshit, Han used a lightsaber in Empire just fine, like a big knife.
>>
>>64074304
>This means there is a weight toward the bottom of the blade, behind where you would hold it, equal to or greater than the blade itself, meaning, if the weapon is weighted properly, the blade is, effectively, weightless.

This is false. Blades are not typically balanced with weights on the pommel.

Rey used that big stick of hers to beat up people she didn't like, so she had some experience in swinging hits.
>>
>>64069994
Luke never had training beyond hitting a few lasers, which was more a practice of using the force because he was doing it without looking.

Even when he met Yoda, yoda had no interest in teaching him how to use it, and even laughed at the reliance of the weapon.

It's not hard.

She even uses it more like a staff, focusing on poking and prodding strikes as opposed to lethal slashes.
