His psychopath wife was a drug addict. She got off of it and was recovering and doing well for several years. Andy Dick reintroduced her to cocaine and pushed her into relapsing, and then she ended up killing Hartman while high. So yes Andy Dick is directly responsible, and he knows it.
A few years later outside a club Dick ran into Jon Lovitz (who was like a best friend to Hartman). They argued and Dick said "Be careful, I'll put the Hartman curse on you" just before Lovitz knocked him the fuck out.
