But this won't make her any more interesting in TFA. She might develop into a more interesting and reasonable character in VIII and IX, but in VII she's still intensely boring. Even if we got the answer in VII itself she would still be boring because the movie has no real tension. She just wills her way out of every scenario. It's not interesting. The movie implies there's a reason for it, but it doesn't make for an interesting protagonist or a compelling film. It's just an excuse to keep the movie going at a brisk pace and to bust out Jedi shit people are familiar with early on because the film is in a terrible hurry to pander.
