it doesn't help that jlaw has a dorky face to begin with. but even from the original trilogy, the mystique makeup just doesn't look that good when you stop to examine it. it's plasitcky shit pasted all over her and you can really tell. in motion it's passable, but when there's a lot of mystique talking scenes it just looks absolute shit.
would have been better off doing spots or some kind of freckle type thing like i've seen some cosplayers do. still looks a bit dorky but better at rest.

Indeed. She is just a fucking terrible choice to play this character. Her face is too round/goofy. Rebecca Romijn was much better because she had this really "mysterious" look to her and she looked extremely natural as Mystique, like she was almost enjoying being naked in front of people. Even though you can still see some imperfections on her costume/makeup, it's still miles better than this current trash.
