Honestly, it just felt off. Didn't feel like Star Wars to me. Sure it had a few of the old themes, but they didn't go anywhere.
Some of the new themes also sounded as if I'd heard them before in other movies.
I don't know if it has to do with The London Symphony Orchestra not performing the music this time or that John Williams didn't even orchestrate the music, just wrote it (I'm not too sure about that last one).

Ive been listening to the soundtrack all this evening and its pretty great.
It may not seem that memorable but whenever a song came on I instantly recognised the scene is was from.
Also bear in mind most people here have either seen the film once or the shitty camrip. Of course the soundtrack wont be instantly incredible. Give it a chance. We've been bombarded with the last six films soundtracks for decades.

DUDE I felt the hype in the crowd on opening night start to dissipate the second the opening blast hit our ears. Many, many people heard how lacking the energy was - the brass sounded polite, like a concert band. It's supposed to be bombastic and epic and raise the hair on your neck. The different orchestra /studio was HUGE in reinforcing the mediocrity of the score.

Original trilogy had amazing soundtrack mostly because he took Gustav Holst's compositions as a motive. And when you take something as exquisite as this for an inspiration you'll easy end up with outstanding soundtrack.
I liked new trilogy OST, but listening to it now i'm not that impressed anymore. It's really good, but just not on the same level as the original trilogy.
