I think it is simultaneously his best, and worst film. It has the glorious cinematic qualities superior to anything else he's directed, mixed with the insufferable SJW pandering. I also think 1994 Tarantino would despise his 2010s work.

I like to give QT movies a rewatch after time passes before i decide on how i feel about them but after the first viewing i have to say this was his worst movie in a while
I just think it takes too long to get to where it is going and doesn't have many staple scenes.
I rank it only above Death Proof and Jackie Brown. Not to say it is a bad movie. Just not his best.

Agree completely. It didn't feel as self-indulgent plodding as some of his middle films do. Also, the plot was tighter than Django where basically Django would have gotten his wife back if Schultz went to Candyland alone.
Tarantino presents a straw man in his hypocritical, androcentric and anachronistic historical revisionism of race relations in US history. He manages to be both heavy handed and clumsy at the same time.
Still, I enjoyed the film.
What was the point of the Christ figure and frontier justice themes given that all the resolution of the film.
