I always thought Mary Sue types sucked because scenes involving them usually suck. It was not a hard fast rule to avoid them at all costs, just a warning that making them interesting is sometimes difficult. The directing/editing is so spazzy that every shot lasts for a few seconds so none of this makes an impact.

The only way I see it working out storywise is if she realizes just how powerful she is and let it get to her head. Don't forget, we don't really know what happened to her parents and if there's something to it why she was sold/abandoned. Waiting and reuniting with her family was real important to her. So the writers might use that as a way to get to her psyche and break her. And of course, Fin will have to be there in order to bring her back to the light.

Don't be silly real SW fans want the movie to constantly look into the camera and wink at the audience with constant references. Thsi doesn't ruin the tone and remind us that the world is fake at all, if anything it makes us part of the action and thanks us as the fans.
