No. The only reason the older toys became valuable was scarcity value - very few were kept in good condition, fewer still sealed in their packaging.
Nowadays there's absolutely no point in trying to 'invest' in toys and collectables, there's a million other gullible fuckwits just like you out there thinking that 'special edition', 'elite series', 'collector's edition', 'exclusive', etc actually means something and hoarding these toys to make bank off them.You never will.
These things are produced in the hundreds of thousands nowadays, they will never, ever be scarce. Even high-end collectibles like Hot Toys figures don't appreciate much past retail value any more.
The only thing worth looking out for are figures that get recalled, unusual factory errors (if they accidentally shipped a run of blue Captain Phasmas for example), etc.
