I agree with this. And I'm not OP I just feel like you have this opportunity as a film maker doing a sequel to learn from the mistakes of those that came before you. And that just as an individual film maker that continues to get work you have an opportunity to learn from your shortcomings in past projects. TFA and Abrams don't do any of this to improve on the Star Wars story or mythos. And what's most frustrating is yea there are some of the same story pacing and character interaction flaws in these movies that was being made 30 years ago and in the newest Star Trek movies. Not that I expected perfection but I do expect improvement.
