it was the script. the actors were really hung out to dry, the pacing was shit because the story was just a series of Star Wars scenes with no focus.
I personally blame Disney but JJ's track record with Star Trek suggest he could be solely responsible although it's still Disney's fault for not firing him if he insisted on a Death Planet.

Not even remotely true. TFA was probably the 3rd best movie of the series. Empire and a New Hope were no doubt better. But TFA is right with Jedi and Sith. Sure as fuck better than Menace and Clones.
