Why was Maz Kanata older than Yoda? 1000 years, really JJ? If they need a character that's been around for a while, this was a missed opportunity to use an aged Jar Jar Binks. Give people something to remember and talk about when they walk out of the theater.

Despite me not believing in the force at all before I met you and that old man (whom I inexplicably named my first born son after), I became well acquainted with this 1000 year old, force sensitive pirate and used her hideout many times when I smuggled tentacle aliens throughout the galaxy. Apparently she also keeps your lightsaber in an unlocked wooden box right below a cantina of criminals but that's a story for another time. She was a good friend.

For some reason, this brought me out of the movie. Not Snoke's CGI, not the references, it was sitting there thinking "What does her skin texture remind me of? Pumpkin pie? Yeah, like a pumpkin pie set out too long. Yeah, that's what it looks like."
