Daeron II was a very good king. Just because sperglord knights and lords were itching for war doesn't mean that Daeron bringing Dorne into the fold was a bad thing. The best Targaryen kings after Aegon the Conqueror were peaceful administrators like Jaehaerys the Conciliator, Viserys II, Daeron II, and especially Egg.

Aegon the Unworthy legitimized ALL his bastards when he was near death. Daeron II was the elder and the rightful successor as king. If Aegon IV wanted Daemon to inherit, why didn't he proclaim it? Or strike down Daeron in his will? Daeron was the eldest son. He was a capable ruler and the rest of the realm accepted him without a hitch.
Daemon didn't even rebel until several years into Daeron's reign. And that's only because Bittersteel and Fireball urged him on for their own gain.
