How the fuck did they not obliterate all the attackers with such huge-ass railguns? Unless I got a completely wrong impression that gun seems to be nearly a third the size of the attacking ships.

I think they were able to latch onto the ship before all of them were able to be destroyed

maneuverability.
>>
>>63894595
Yeah that sounds like a reasonable explanation. Was just surprised by the sheer size of that thing, never really got a good look at it in the episode.

For someone that hasn't read the books: do the Martians rely heavily on automation and thus have relatively small crews? Or were the attackers able to overtake the Donnager through tech superiority? Because judging by relative size at first glance I'd imagine a ship of the Donnager's size to carry more people than all the attacking ships combined.
>>
I want a game that I can play as a mars soldier in that cool armour.
>>
>>63894792
I want a good game that focuses on relatively low tech space battles.
>>
>>63894770

I also haven't read the books but I my guess on that was a lot of the crew died from decompression caused by the rail gun hits
>>
>>63894770

I don't remember from the books but I believe 90% of the weapons fire & defense in battle is based on automation. There are still ways to change the outcome of a battle but superior tech gives you a huge advantage.
>>
>>63894792

I can't wait until we get to see some power armor.

Weapon system are pretty much all computer controlled. From what I remember Mars has neither the numbers or the raw strength to take Earth in a fight so they rely on their superior tech to win. Hence the stealth(-ish) ships and power armor.
>>
>>63894886
yeah that might be an explanation

>>63894945
was just wondering because the one time we actually see Martian marines fight during the boarding action they seem to able to hold themselves quite well, indicating either a somewhat equal tech level or a stark contrast in training. Was just wondering if I am severly misjudging the crew sizes of the combatants involved or if there's another reason the Donnager got overrun pretty easily after it was boarded.

There's been a grand total on one sex scene in four episodes. A sex scene that establishes Holden's relationship with the navigator and shows how gravity is implemented.

There are far better ways to show that two characters are in deep with each other and very easy ways to show how gravity is handled. Sex is fine, but god damn they always just shoehorn it in for ratings and it is always pathetic.

One of the Donnager's bridge crew commented that the raiders' missiles were dodging the PDCs - presume they can manoeuvre those smalls ships quickly enough in order to dodge the Donnager's railguns and get in range to launch those boarding pods.

The Donnager still blatted 4 of them on the way in.

Man this is an awful general. Here I thought /tv/ might be one of the decent boards on 4chan. Instead it's just filled with people hating on a show. Don't really understand why there's hate towards this. Not all shows are going to be Star trek philosophicaly styled or fleshed out. Some are better this way. I think it's alright for this kind of show to have sex scenes or nude scenes. Don't really ruin the show too much. As long as they don't start a love triangle between Burton, Naomi and Holden.
>>
>>63902285
Nude scenes only exist to bring in the lowest of common denominators.

Good science and story would be sufficient for a science fiction show otherwise.

>>
>>63902333
I'm gonna refrain from actually giving you a proper answer because you´re just generalizing an entire audience and practice on what few shows have done things in such a manner, like sex in the city and bullshit shows like that.

He's combination of two characters from the books. He appears to have lived long enough to give the command codes for the Tachi (soon to be Rociante) to Holden and co. so perhaps your doomfaggotry is well placed.
>>
>>63902392
According to IMDB he's on for 4eps in total, and he's only been in 2 so far.
>>
>>63902437
Porn has always been a part of sci-fi: from the earliest covers featuring scantily-clad babes on strange planets, to Ripley's panty shots while avoiding the Alien.

The only people who'd think otherwise are Space Mormons, Republicans, and Americans in general.
>>
>>63901069
Films like Gravity, 2001, or Moon are far better.
>>
>>63902333
And why is that a problem? If some titties can triple your audience size that increases the audience size. And the show is less likely to be canceled.
>>
>>63902705
Not the guy you replied to but what about after watching these films? Should I just rewatch them and old movies until new ones come out?

I could just alternatively just watch some sci-fi shows I like moderately, even if they don't press me to think for myself all the time, right?

It's soft-core. A lot of the 60s-70s sci-fi books did contain hardcore sex scenes. Often hilarious ones if it was Herbert or Heinlein. Then there's the endless Alien ripoffs like Inseminoid which pretty much spawned all the anime obsession with tentacle-rape.

The attackers were clearly using drones and the Tachi is intended to be used as an escort ship. The martians were just too complacent to make use of it

Gravity was a simpsons episode. Moon wasn't bad but the plot was retarded. Helium 3 mining on the moon? at 50ppb? Don't make me laugh.

A large battleship, almost 500 meters long and weighing approximately 250 000 tons. Square and blocky, with small bulbous projections in seemingly random places, and designed for long periods at high g, it was built in the "office tower" configuration: each deck one floor of the building, ladders or elevators running down the axis. Constant thrust took the place of gravity. At nearly five hundred meters long, it was the size of a 130-story building. She had four main engines and several vessels stationed, such as the Tachi.
>>
>>63904053
Gravity was just like the episode where homer went into space. Interstellar is quantum love and innacurate black hole. The Martian's plot depends on winds that don't exist on Mars and the ship was more retarded than the one sarah palin had in Iron Sky.

But they make people think they're thinking, so general audiences loved them.

>So how badly does this hurt the martians' overall fleet strength? do they have a whole fleet of slightly less impressive ships that can step up or are they fucked without their super duper flagship?
They've got plenty of ships but fewer than Earth.
The real question is whether they're gonna lose their shit and blame Earth for the loss.
>>
>>63904430
They've still got the tech advantage - so Earth's not going to be invading and retaking Mars any time soon.
