>>

They could have gone even further down the hole if they wanted. The mexican drug cartels are so fucking crazy if you read up on it. They should have gone full Apocalypse Now really.
>>
>>63888454
I liked the part where she got punched, and shot, the scene where she was choked was good too.
>>
>>63888454
fucking loved it. I was legitimately scared that the movie would end with her turning things around. either becoming part of the team or fucking them up.
instead she just got absolutely rekt until the very last second and if she didn't die she's still a weak crying little girl...the end.

1. "No Country for Old Men"
2. "The Counselor"
3. "Sicario"

I liked all three though.

Mexicans don't have shit on the brutality and determination of something like IS.

Have you seen what they did to prisoners? Beheadings aren't shit compared to that. They set people on fire and record it. They roll over people in tanks for fun.

Literal scum of the earth, that's medieval shit.
>>

Beheadings are just to show OTHERS in their locale what happens when you fuck with the cartels, you have no idea the amount of torture and other shit going on before they get beheaded

>Lazcano made a name for himself by decapitating his victims, putting them in acid baths, and for torturing and killing hundreds of people.[23]

>When punishing victims, Lazcano became known for using a torture method known as "La Paleta" ('The Popsicle'), in which victims were stripped naked and brutally beaten with a board.[17] A reporter also recalls that Lazcano reportedly tied a man to a tree and beat him until he broke his legs, and then left him tied to the tree for two or three days until he died.[24] According to the Mexican authorities, Lazcano owned a ranch with several lions and tigers, which he used to get rid of his victims.[1] Lazcano also used effective intimidation kills to keep his subordinates in check. He reportedly dumped his victims (or their children) in large barrels of boiling oil. When he found out that some of his men were stealing from him, Lazcano would force one of them to watch while his henchmen grabbed a 2-by-4 and beat the other to death. When they were dead, the executioner would then cut out the victim's heart (Lazcano threw the organs away, but other drug lords have forced their guests to eat the organs of the victims).[25] Lazcano also pioneered the decapitation techniques that Los Zetas now employ, and protected witnesses have said that Lazcano would let captured rivals starve to death because he liked to watch the process or that he would let them be eaten by wild animals.

- Why was the drug cartel hiding dead bodies in the walls of a house? They were already in the middle of nowhere (Arizona) so why not just dump the bodies in the desert where nobody needs to guard them and you don't risk getting caught by the feds

It's really not very good. Literally re-treads the exact same themes, and almost the same plot structure, as No Country for Old Men, removing any traces of subtlety or ambiguity, replacing tense action with endless stretches of stilted, bookish dialogue that endlessly speechifies and repeats the themes and "subtext" of the film.

It's one of those weird misfires that doesn't just waste the talent of the people involved, it actively reverses it so that they all come out looking worse than they have in years. Despite being a great novelist, McCarthy seems to have no idea how to put a screenplay together, the actors can only embarrass themselves with the awkward dialogue, and Ridley Scott frankly just doesn't seem to give a fuck
>>
>>63892179

Brolin also states that it's a loud distraction. The cartel are running around wondering who just hit them while Del Taco is sneaking up on the boss.

>The 2011 San Fernando massacre, also known as the second massacre of San Fernando,[1] was the mass murder of 193 people by Los Zetas drug cartel at La Joya ranch in the municipality of San Fernando, Tamaulipas, Mexico.[2] Authorities investigating the massacre reported numerous hijackings of passenger buses on Mexican Federal Highway 101 in San Fernando, and the kidnapped victims were later killed and buried in 47 clandestine mass graves.[2] The investigations began immediately after several suitcases and other baggage went unclaimed in Reynosa and Matamoros, Tamaulipas.[3] On 6 April 2011, Mexican authorities exhumed 59 corpses from eight mass graves.[4] By 7 June 2011, after a series of multiple excavations, a total of 193 bodies were exhumed from mass graves in San Fernando.[5]
>Reports mentioned that female kidnapping victims were raped and able-bodied male kidnapping victims were forced to fight to the death with other hostages, similar to a "gladiator fight from ancient Rome," where they were given knives, hammers, machetes and clubs to find recruits who were willing to kill for their lives.[6] In the blood sport, the survivor was recruited as a hitman for Los Zetas; those who did not survive were buried in a clandestine gravesite.[7]

Do you know anything about how Mexico works anon? It's fucking madness. None of it ever gets in the papers either.

The movie was honestly tame. Some of the cartel lords have formed religions based around their actions and have resurrected the practices of human sacrifice by flaying, and hold gladiator matches where they round up civilians and force them to fight each other to death.

Mexico is one of the most psychotically violent countries on Earth. Why the fuck do you think there are so many specifically teenage boys fleeing to the US across the border? It's either USA or cartels ese.
