Yes, and what of it? I work for BAE Systems (Maritime), my day job involves working on the shop floor with the guys who put warships together. Modern day battleships are pretty much put together like giant Lego or Meccano sets, albeit very complicated ones but just giant modular pieces designed to fit together.
Once we have the tech. necessary to construct large vessels in orbit, this is the way I see future space exploration vessels being constructed.
