Did they swap the origin story between Mac and Charlie on purpose? Because it seems like Mac's family background (criminal father and alcoholic mother) would lead to someone developing into a person like Charlie, whereas Charlie's background (ditsy mother and absent father) would shape a person into someone like Mac.
