I don't actually know if she's related to Palpatine at all, I just know that there's a significant, understated darkness about her whole character that I've noticed in her performance. Her fighting style is reminiscent of Palpatine's and her theme song in the OST has hints of the Imperial March hidden inside it. Feels like foreshadowing something to me, but I don't really know what at this point. The most obvious choice is that she's Luke's daughter, but when they meet at the end, it also doesn't feel like Luke recognizes or knows her.
