This would have been a great ending if they didn't already make a huge deal about Luke being in the movie.
Imagine having no clue about mark Hamill reprising his role and going in to see him in his glorious unJUST appear at the end. I would have been psyched up and pumped for the next 2 movies.
But no. Instead they made a big deal that Mark Hamill was back and that Luke was in the movie. So I sat in the theater watching and waiting and hoping that Luke would be in the movie and have a purpose. Basically towards the end when it showed rey travelling to find him, I knew the movie was about over and fucking knew they were going to waste luke completely. It was even worse than I thought when he didn't even get dialogue. Fuck you Disney.

I was actually surprised at how much I enjoyed Luke's brief inclusion. What anons liked about it last night was that it doesn't do what the film does. It abbreviates the awkward extra helicopter shot, and speaks the last line directly to the audience. The voice over is from the first trailer, and since this picture is basically a two hour trailer anyway, it also feels more honest to end with the voice over from the first trailer. Plus Luke gets to say something, even though he is not speaking on screen. the implication is strong that she is his "family" but still cliffhung enough to be specific about how they are related. Plus it has the mythic lore echo. The anon who greentexted it never came back, so he may not know that he got a few fans.

This whole movie just a teaser for the return of Luke Skywalker to cinema, and it delivered deliciously in that regard. The last minute was spine tingling.
