I fucking hate The Scene. They're a bunch of elitist retards who keep on using idiotic methods of distribution just because they're the "Unwritten Informal Rules of God." Stop splitting things in tiny rars and then put them in zips inside of rars inside of tar.gzs inside of rars. Stop wasting time on making ASCII art in fonts no one has anymore. Stop using your FTPs with rules from 15 years ago. You don't need "couriers," "pre-channels" or "topsites", just fucking torrent it. What the fuck is your problem? There are plenty of ultra-cool supah sekrit private trackers you can use to make your releases if you feel public ones are not "underground" enough for you.

You're not doing it for "quality." Your average "non-scene" Blackcats game or your average "non-scene" what.cd FLAC torrent are of equal or better quality than "scene" releases. I remember that recently, a DS game (was it Final Fantasy IV? I can't remember) was released first by someone "who didn't belong to the scene." The "scene" release showed up several hours later and it ended up being a bad dump. What happened, did you accidentally jizzed all over your DS while you were dumping the cart just thinking about how all the eProps your buddies were going to give you for dumping a high profile game for their glory? And why did you feel the need to make a dupe of something someone else had already dumped? Just because it's missing a cool "-L33TKiDZ" tag on the filename, that doesn't mean you need to dupe it, asshole.

Stop clinging to obsolete formats that no one else uses. Really, who the hell wants to download 1G of Xvid? If I'm downloading a goddamned HD show, maybe I have what it takes to play h.264?

They should learn a couple of things from the anime fansubbing scene. Anyone can start a group. If a group sucks, natural selection will take care of them, because the channels of communication that allow people to are there. All groups are given equal chances. They have simple methods of distribution (XDCC + torrent), always jump on new, more efficient technologies and generally don't have dumb hierarchies.

In the meanwhile, "The Scene" is stuck in the 80s with their obsolete technology and "Secret Handshake Club No Girls Allowed" Elementary School bullshit.

So could Emily Blunt be less useless in this film? I like her, her acting was good, but her character was ultimate shit tier.

Constantly questioning CIA guys. 'Why am I here?'. 'What am I doing?'. 'This is illegal?'.

I literally laughed out loud at the end when she basically said, 'I'm telling on you'.

The fucking CIA are trying to take down the people who stuffed all those bodies in the walls at the beginning, killed two of her comrades, left those bodies hanging on the bridge in Juarez, attempting to kill her on the motorway, smuggle drugs through Mexico and the US, and literally beheaded one of the main characters wives and threw his daughter in a vat of acid. Never-mind the routine death and destruction, corruption of police and politics, and all the other tertiary shit they caused.

And she has a problem with this because it's 'not by the book'. Is she fucking retarded? They literally kill the main guy and his entire family and she ends the movie whining like a little bitch.

Also love how the movie tried to guilt trip you with the corrupt cop dying - oh, he loved his son, what a good guy. Who doesn't love their fucking kids? The guy was a corrupt cop and a drug smuggler, I was hoping for his death. Boo fucking hoo, die corrupt scum.

Overall decent movie, felt like it shit all over women, all over those scum bag drug smugglers, made the CIA out to be pieces of shit who're getting the best job done for us at the expense of Mehicans - who gives a shit?
>>

>>
>>63804193
No shit - felt obvious the movie was trying to make us increasingly dislike the CIA and company, but they were the only people getting shit done.

The guy making the movie literally missed the point of his own movie.
>>
>>63804167
She was also crying because she went through all the trouble, getting attacked multiple times, used, lied to, and also had a gun to her head by one of her co workers, and in the end she could have avoided the situation multiple times.

Yeah and the corrupt cop dying didnt make me feel sad either, he joined that life, I think it was just supposed to make re evaluate your feelings, it showed that even the innocent is hurt (his wife and child)
>>
>>63804388
His wife knew what he was doing, so I gave no shits.

She also had the option to leave a number of times and the CIA guys clearly didn't give that much of a shit either way.
>>
>>63804463
I didnt get the feeling the wife knew, seemed to me that she judt thought she was a cop

>She also had the option to leave a number of times and the CIA guys clearly didn't give that much of a shit either way

Thats my point, she didnt really need to do this shit, she just wanted answers, and she still kept going and in the end, was in over her head.
>>

>>
>>63804551
I think the first scene, and the fact that the relationship between the husband and wife isn't shown at all except for a stare across the room indicates she was aware. No regrets, supporting a drug smuggler makes you scum too.

She was over her head, but everything she said and did was stupid - I was on the side of CIA (big guys tbf) in every argument. She was a low tier person who was asked to come along, she volunteered but questioned every single thing.
>>
>>63804672
Yeah, I sided with the CIA too, they got shit done, no matter the cost, they didnt take chances.

I guess one could think that the wife knew, from what we saw they didnt have a loving relationship, he slept in his own bed too.
>>
>>63804261
was this your first movie or what? this fucking shit has been done in every similar movie ever

why? because it just works

straight by the books cop/reporter/whomever is slowly introduced into the behind the scenes shady stuff
they always resist, trying going by the rules all powerless and shit

some eventually accept their role, some resist till the end

PROTIP: you don't have to always indetify yourself with the main character

obviously creators aiming for the widest audience possible so plenty of people will share her butthurt views about being used etc.
some people will identify with the del Toro's characters going straight revenge
others like you will go with Brolin because as you've pointed out he gets shit done
>>
>>63796033

Fuck yes. Been waiting to rewatch this for ages now.
>>
>>63804799
yeah it was my first movie - fuck man, how did you know?

del toro and brolin were who i sided with - morally, there is no other choice. to state otherwise is self indulgent wankery.
>>
>>63804261

>Point is that the world is a morally grey area

>Film ends with people being effective by acting in morally shady ways

>Director missed the point

You seem retarded. No offence.

Del Toro even lays this out, in plain english at the end of the film.
>>
>>63804167

>all over those scum bag drug smugglers

The CIA were helping drug smugglers.

Just the good, co-operative kind. Or at least the ones that cause the least amount of drama and bullshit.
>>
>>63804978
>Point is that the world is a morally grey area

>Del Toro and Brolin get the job done being morally grey

>Movie ends with the tear soaked face of Blunt (if Brolin is 'grey', Del Toro is 'black' and Blunt is 'white') and the kid and his mom listening to the gun shots

Yeah, nah. Seemed obvious the guy was, on a superficial level, equivicating the actions of the CIA and co with the scumbags. Maybe on another level the guy is red pilling people, but I severely doubt the majority of people will get that level of understanding - most will sympathize with Blunt

The whole thing with the cop I think just pointed to how cartel activity had reached a point of normalcy in that region.

Plus, outside of federal police whose identities are often kept under wraps, upright police officers probably end up shot in the street immediately.

I think it just fits with the morally grey tone the film had. It's hard to fault the guy given his situation.

Someone should reboot Sleepy Hollow and have it set in Mexico.

why? zero dark thirty was a flawlessly executed thriller

sicario was also pretty decent, although the second act flagged a bit. the first act was taut as shit

Is this the one low budget documentary style horror movie?
>>
Just finished watching this not a half ago, excellent hardcore movie telling an all too true tale.

I gotta admit, I knew what was going to happen when Alejandro was face to face with Fausto and yes I mean I really did know what was coming, still didn't slight the experience of seeing it happen (even off-screen) when it did.

First thing I said was "Good job" because sometimes it just has to be done.

NOTHING CHANGED (life as usual, as shown earlier in the film)
or
EVERYTHING CHANGED (death of the cartel leader caused havoc, like when the other dude was kidnapped)

Depending on how you look at it.
>>
1080p 7.94GB done in 20mins :^)
>>
>>63813864
the point is that violence is mundane for them

they hear gunshots and go "whatever" because that's their life
>>
why didn't she shoot him
>>
>>63813864
the point is that nothing actually changed for ordinary folk. the powers that be played their game with people's lives and the industry just keeps going under different hands

that said, it was also a tale of revenge (told through the eyes of a witness) as well as serving justice to somebody who done great evil.

I think the film deliberately tried not to pick a side and just show the events, actions, and decisions for what they were
>>
Serious question. Why did Del Toro sit on that guys lap in the interrogation room? We're they lovers? Surely there is a better way to get him to talk...
>>
>>63814656
She wasn't a wolf
>>
>>63815538
then they made all that noise that sounded like fucking, what was with the big thing of water, they could have at least showed blood or water going down the drain they focused on.
also, the girl was a fucking drag the whole movie, she knew they were going after bad guys, she should have just kept her mouth shut and went along
>>
As soon as police see a padlocked trapdoor, you better believe they're calling in the bomb squad. Not here though because plot reasons but that's okay.

>>
Is this a remake of Serpico? Similar title. Similar story...
>>
>>63796033
Just finished watching it and damn its pretty good. Good story with some decent action. Also Brolin is probably one of the most underrated actors today. Emily Blunt looks like a grandmother in this.
>>
>>63796033
I was expecting Blunt to actually operate in this movie or at least DO something. Oh well it was still good. Josh Brolin really reminds me of Kurt Russell in this movie - likely due to his hairstyle.
>>
>>63799849

>Why the fuck do they do this for a 4GB torrent ?

Mosty likely it was a torrent created by a automatated process. Like they look for new sparks releases and then makes a torrent out of it and call it a day. Unpacking the file and stuff just creates more complexity and tends ot waste time.

Also, you can play the .rar file in VLC. YOu don't need to unpack the entire pack.
>>
>>63805157
>Seemed obvious the guy was, on a superficial level, equivicating the actions of the CIA and co with the scumbags.
>on a superficial level

So basically you're saying nothing of value. People are so fuckin arrogant, like you're assuming "superficiality" is the full extent of what the majority of the audience picks up.
>>
Holy shit that was fuckin GREAT

most tense a movie has made me feel in a long time
>>
>>63818448

Naw he role was great. She's a law enforcer. A guardian. Hence "go somewhere the rule of law still matters".

Brolin, Delta force, and Alejandro of course were all killers of one kind or another. And it's a great example of what has to be done in order for a fragile civil society to exist. "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf".

It isn't palatable but it's the truth. Without our killers, there would be nothing to check the brigands. We need them, even if we don't like to admit it. Modern life is a big bag of contradictions.

Reminds me of what Nicholson's character said at the end of A Few Good Men: "Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives."
>>
Good movie. I wish the initial scene in Juarez had taken a little less time relative to the rest of the film. Useful characters. Even the black guy side kick had plot meaning in introducing her to Ted and pushed hard to find out what shit they were in. I think a non-moving still shot of the entire dinner-murder scene might have been really cool, but I guess they didn't want to show the kids being killed on camera probably.
>>
>>63819225

You are easily pleased. Beats of No Nation was much better than this.
>>
>>63819586

It was also good, but in a different way. Apples and oranges.
>>
Why didn't they extract the prisoner through air? It might have been slightly less conspicuous than a shootout at the border.
