It never ended. Balance was never brought to the force. Neither Anakin nor Luke were the chosen ones.
It will either be Finn or Rey.
Balance was brought to the force at the end of the prequels because there were two Sith and two Jedi.
Before that there were only a handful of Sith and a fuckload of Jedi.
There's no chosen one.
No one gives a shit about that anymore.

The Sith will always exist senpai. Bane's order was but one of a long history of Sith orders. The Sith die, and their ranks are replenished by Jedi who hear the whispers of sin tickling the back of their consciousness and give in to their desires.
Darth Traya was right, the only way to fix that fucking galaxy is a mass pogrom of all force users.
Snoke is propably Darth Plagueis, Sheevs former Master, who according to Sheev mastered the technique of ressurection.
That explains his fucked up face. He is now back, after he fully healed up from Sheevs assassination try.

The whole reason Anakin was born was because of Sidious and Plagueis meddling with the force and midichlorians to create life from nothing. They were pumping the force full of their dark side waves to control creating a huge anomaly in the force. Many scholars of the force agree that the force is semi-aware and Plagueis himself said that sometimes the force can lash back at offenders. And that is what happened. Due to the sith's meddling the force itself had midichlorians converge to forge a being into existence in the womb of a woman. Anakin's came to be by the force to be able to stand against the beings that were so strong they could alter and influence the force in terrible and incredible ways. By destroying the two most powerful siths ever to live the force would be restored to it's balance.
It is not about dark side and light side, or sith vs jedi, its about the force itself being manipulated and altered in terribly unnatural ways.

Maul was only a tool of Sidious and Plagueis. Plagueis was still alive so Sidious couldn't really take up any apprentices. They both agreed to that sidious would take Maul as "apprentice" and even bestow upon him the title of darth, but would keep him in the dark about not only their plans but also most, if not all, of the sith knowledge, which, they think, wouldn't be a violation of the rule of two, as maul wouldn't be a real sith apprentice and just a glorified dark jedi.

It's not balance in terms of numbers. It was balance between the light and dark side of the force. That's what Qui Gon found discovered, that the force isn't binary and the living force is both the light and the dark.
This is what allowed him to continue existing after his body died. He became Yoda's and Obi-wan's Master and thought them the ways of the living force in his "death". Something the Sith always wanted, immortality.
This is what saved Vader in the end. Is act of love for his son, the hate he felt for himself. He allowed himself to feel all the emotions and become one with the living force.
The force was brought into balance.
