Might not be popular based on what I've seen so far on /tv/, but I really felt that Adam Driver as Kylo was the best acted character. His spasms of rage whenever things didn't go properly felt like the Dark Side. His nuanced emotions throughout mixing fear and anger and some sort of need for acceptance were strong.

It's above the prequels because it does have mostly well written characters and overall the plot / writing is fine (except "deathstar 3 because we have no ideas!"). The aliens and settings were also all fine, no cutesy shit, and the cgi wasn't jarring as hell like in the prequels.

Also, you have to remember something, Luke had character growth as a person in each of the movies.
In 4, he went from a scared little farm boy who just wanted to be left out of things to a brave man who accepts the responsibility of things much bigger than him. In 5, he goes from an arrogant impatient kid to someone that realizes he's not the top shit, and that he needs to practice.
In 6, which had the least development since it was mostly about his developed character, it still went from calm and cool to someone who has still had his weaknesses exposed, and on reflection, realizes that he's still following the path of his father.
In 7 we have "tough, super smart, agile girl with tons of force potential (though doesn't have any power yet) and knows she needs to use her abilities to protect others in harms way"... to the same fucking thing at the end of it.

Ep 8 will be about Rey actually learning about what to be one with the force and re learning all her powers ( actually i really think she is going to lose her jedi powers somehow), and we are going to see Finn becoming a more brave and stronger character, they probably will traing together and then love will bloom in the battlefield or some shit, i´m sure it will be like Return of the jedi, combined with The Attack of the clones, somehow.
