Even without his physical wounds, most of the lightsaber fights in Star Wars are mental/emotional battles anyway. Even if he is a master duelist he mostly uses his saber during his tard rage scenes. Rey isn't a beginner though. She's trained and is powerful in the Force but someone brainwashed her and made her forget, hence why it comes back so quickly. She's like Revan from Kotor, he learns superfast after forgetting who he is. So it isn't weird at all that he beat an exhausted, wounded Kylo Ren who himself is just an apprentice.

Luke will teach him that it's not a hindrance to be called to the light. Luke was pretty much a grey jedi by the end of OT, being able to use both light and dark. He'll show Ren that it's not a weakness, it's a strength. Ren becomes a grey jedi.

Also talent alone shouldn't be enough. Rey's talented but it's stupid for raw talent to beat training. Luke never beat Vader, trained a lot between movies.
