I think that the Engineer's use organic materials for construction rather than the plastics and metals that the humans in Prometheus use. His suit looks like the shell of a big or something and I imagine that this is because their suits may be grown rather than manufactured. Seeing that organic but not humanoid form underneath a humanoid head is kind of unsettling.
