It's another dumb gimmick to jack up the price of TV's, without them everyone would be buying 60+ inch TV's with excellent color for like $300 because there'd be no way to justify a higher price. The curve works really well on a monitor because it's so close to you that it does the whole "wrapping around you" shit it's supposed to, but on a TV you're sitting so far away the curve becomes unnoticeable.

4K is another marketing gimmick. Unless your TV is 30 feet tall there's not going to be any noticeable difference over 1080p at 60 fps.
