Based Jim even hired the same fabric shops, metalworks etc companies that made shit for the actual ship in 1912. He spent YEARS getting all the details right.

it's a shame that there's so much unused footage out there, if I recall, some rooms and whole sets never made it to the final movie so you never knew it existed.

The amount of blatant digital superimposition in fury road detracted from the effects.

The entire project screamed of trying to have the freedom/safety of CGI and the "realism" of practical effects, resulting in just a bland, bullshit movie.

The fact its impossible to care about anything that happens means it might as well just be a sfx reel.
>>
>>63683988
you don't really think that, though. you've just adopted it as an opinion because you think it makes you interesting.
>>
>>63684010
It's a collection of pictures played quickly in sequence accompanied by a soundtrack. How is that not a moving picture?

we do. you would be amazed how much CG is used and you don't even notice because it so good.

I remember when the white race didn't exist at all. Because its a very recent invention created by slamming a huge number of "approved" races together into a nondescript hodgepodge that lacks any sort of culture or heritage.

>>

>>
>>63684070
While there was definitely a lot of digital splicing done in FR, you still have to give the production team credit for the effects they used. The bomb toting mountain bikers, the buzzards' spiked cars, were all built to scale and then demolished on set.

I feel sorry for you if you thought the movie was uninteresting, but personally I was on the edge of my seat throuought most of the action scenes. It was a perfectly made action movie.

I was about to, until the scene with the shitty guitar flying towards the screen reflecting completely different lighting than what is visible on screen.

They spent so much effort to have that shot be all practical, and it just looked like 90s CGI.

Maybe I'm just austic, but knowing they either a)made a real explosion/crash/destruction,
or b.) used a physical touchable model
allows my mind to instantly believe it as feasible and possible.
I used to build models in the 90s in hopes of becoming a FX artist someday but it never came to be

The one they sank certainly wasn't half scale, but it wasn't the size of a pickup either.

They actually had quite a few models of different sizes. The smallest was about 20 feet.

That always bugged me. Like obviously she got married and had kids, and that poor guy dies expecting her in heaven and instead she ends up on a shit with a guy she knew for like 2 days.
>>
>>63683829
Agreed 100%
The amount of work that went into every set is truly mindblowing. When I watch it, I skip to when the boat hits the iceberg and put it on mute for the rest of the movie.

I feel the same about Saving Private Ryan and Schindler's List. Spielberg tries to come off as so noble and well meaning while both films have numerous set up/punch line death scenes.
>Woops, she stepped on the piano keys and got shot!
>the guy took his helmet off after it deflected a bullet, then got shot!
>the third time he turns around the radio guy is dead!
He treats these two events like they're the most serious things in history but has way too much fun reenacting them, like a kid playing war with his friends

I have the exact same feelings about Avatar too.

Those explosions are still kind of cheesy because the vehicles are filled with stupid amounts of fuel that make a lot more flame than a realistic explosion would. We've all seen how a regular car for example is blown up in some movies and a huge ball of flame erupts, as if the trunk and back seat was filled with jerry cans.
>>
>>63685163
