First episode of three was released today, and I gotta be honest it was really good. For a book adaption it's way better than I expected it to be, especially since it's from SyFy. Except changing Stormgren, pretty much everything else is like in the book. Can't wait for the rest, really curious how much balls they will have considering the ending of the novel. Also really love how they portrayed Karellen.

Sci-fi must have learned their lesson, The Expanse ep. 1 was almost perfect adaptation and this was not far behind.
Considering their budget and that it's a miniseries, it's an excellent execution and it does justice to the novel. Unironically "Bravo Sci-fi" from me.

Yea. In my opinion, the best book-to-screen adaptations are the ones that make chances to play to the strengths of a visual medium and play down the parts that only work in text.
The Overlords' appearance, for example. In the book their facial structure made it impossible to read emotion, but on screen that would just be shooting themselves in the foot. As it is their casting for the Overlord was fucking perfect, and the costume they made is absolutely amazing looking. Straight up Legend tier.
I also liked their changing of the news paper stories into hashtag campaigns, and the scene at the party managed to convey the same feelings in tone despite being drastically different regarding the details.
Honestly, worst part so far is the U.N. representative being turned into a liberal hipster corn farmer with a ghost wife and annoying living wife, but all in all it hasn't been enough to piss me off about it.
