why does /tv/ always get so hung up on this line. It fit the tone of the movie . This wasn't a dead-serious "hard" Sci-Fi movie. It was a fun ride that was sufficiently realistic so that people would say "hey, why aren't we on Mars yet? – That'd be cool."

I enjoy it, but i read the book first. The film really missed the point on a lot of it.
It missed out most of the really detailed science shit. It missed out most of the unending problems that happened one after the other.
And most importantly it missed out all the loneliness and feels he had while stuck on Mars.
The Book is way better
