It'd be nice to have some sort of direction as to where S3 is headed, since it definitely seems like an ongoing story taking place in the early 1980s
>>
I hated the finale while I was watching it, maybe because of all those fucking commercials.

But it feels like a slow burn. The ending really fit in with the theme of everything. The pointlessness of it all, the fact that the only thing that matters is to end the day in bed with your spouse, watching the snow fall.

Although Peggy and Ed's arc didn't get the ending I hoped they would get.
On the other side of things, Milligan's arc ending perfectly bleak.

Lou pulled over some criminals responsible for stealing a snowmobile and was shot in the hip, leaving him with a permanent limp. He retired with full pension.

>>
>>63658486
I'm think since S3 is chronologically after S1, it'll have a lot less to do with syndicate crime like the first two seasons, and focus on small time stuff.

Maybe Mr. Wrench is involved, or maybe they go super broad and introduce places in Nebraska and Idaho which (I think) were mentioned in the book at the beginning of S2E9.

Well, it sort of ended happily didn't it? For Peggy? She wanted free from Ed, and well, she did? Or maybe she didn't realize how she wanted Ed until he was gone. It's something you need to interpret. Was her rambling in the car because she need to justify she was right ,and Ed was wrong? Or was she really just that oppressed? And if so, why did she keep driving with Rye? It's a hard question.

Lou shot at him. What was he gonna do, keep going after them while pursued by multiple policemen? It was time to leave (at least for the time being)
>Why did he just happen to be sitting around in a park where the characters from the next season are playing?
He had arranged a meeting with that guy who gave him the new identity. Either the kids were hooked up with the guy he met with or they were just strangers whom he molds to become Wrench and Numbers
>Why was cancerfu seemingly in trouble in the previous episode but in this one she's fine?

>>
>>63658619
I don't really know what to think about it. Like I said, their arc's ending was the only one I can't appreciate.
Peggy went through some great character developments throughout the season, starting from unlikable bitch and becoming a "doer". But then she just turned into a crazy bitch again and got her husband killed.
Palindrome
POTTERY
>>
>>63658685
you have to watch the ufo scene again. the sheriff was practically passed out. just watch it again and tell me that lou was still able to fix that. also bear was even't watching
>>
>>63658682
No doubt still slugging it out at the bottom. I mean he can hardly rise up on the ladder like Mike if he doesn't talk.
>>
>>63658587
>why did Hanzee stop trying to kill them

He was put on the FBI's most wanted list and had a fuckhuge injury on his face so he'd be recognized.

>Sitting around in a park where the characters from the next season are playing

Because they live there.

>Cancerfu in trouble, now she's fine

She's not fine. She has cancer. And they said she had a bad bout with the medication and it caused her to lose consciousness. Happens sometimes, especially among terminally ill patients.

>why did the arcs go nowhere?

Not spoonfeeding you this one. If you're really wondering this maybe you need to rewatch the season. Pay close attention to Solverson and Larsson's conversations.
>>
>>63658587
Okay here goes.

Hanzee felt betrayed by Oeggy and Ed because they decided to stab him instead of extending a hand when he asked for a hair cut. Makes sense in the context of his character and that episode so it causes him to snap.

Cancerfu has cancer, if you've seen someone with cancer you'd know the many uos and downs they take.

Peggy was a lost cause, Ed's arc was complete when he said he and Peggy weren't going to make it, finally owning up to all the trouble Peggy got them in and how he went along because he wanted to make her happy, even though she didn't care what Ed wanted.

And for a little bit extra, the bit avout language is somewhat lost on people. Its not so much language but miscommunication that was a major theme. Gerhardts think a "butcher" was hired to kill Rye, Peggy manipulating Ed to go along with what she wanted, so on and so forth.
>>

Real convenient
>It's like poetry guys

>She has cancer. You don't just go from fine to dead. You're gonna collapse a few times.
Yeah we know she has cancer. That's all her character is. But why show her falling? It never goes anywhere. You assume it sets up tension because her husband is torn between duties, but derp she's fine and it didn't matter at all.
>>
>>63658786

Good lord this was a bad finale. Worst thing is, people are gonna say it is a 10/10 too. Episodes 1-9 were great, but this is just a let down. Everyone just had bland endings. She is very explicit on her motivations but in case it wasn't clear Ed spells it out before he dies and then she expands on that in the car ride. She had a delusional sense of importance and grandeur that pushed her to make impulsive decisions, because she wanted something more for her life. And Ed didnt, he was very happy with a butcher shop and small family and he said as much before he died.

I mean, its incredibly clear bruv

>Mike lives a boring life

If you think for an old school gangster like him sitting behind a desk crunching numbers is a "bland" ending for him then you are retarded.

>Peggy goes to prision without closure

What the fuck else is there to explain about her? It's no different then what they did to William H. Macy and the guy who put Buschemi in the wood chipper in the movie.
>>
>>63659316
Literally what closure are you talking about when it comes to Betsy and Peggy? One goes to jail and the other eventually dies. Holy shit this board is unbelievable

Hanzee's is weird but its also set up at the very least

Yeah.

>>63659447
Think of season 1 where Molly does all this police work only for Gus of all people to stumble upon Malvo and shoot him while he's sitting down. This chaotic evil of a man is killed by goofball Gus in such a lame way.

Or No Country for Old Men where the main character is killed off screen, or The Big L where the plot just resolves itself with the silliest explanation. That combined with this seasons already absurdist camus inspired themes and all of this anti climax is pretty much perfectly in line.
>>
>>63659367
Fair enough, had forgotten when Ed laid down the law before dying.

Pot, kettle.
>>
>>63659513
Molly's real nemesis was Lester, who she did end up getting via tapes. Malvo was Gus's antagonist because he ended up turning Gus into an alpha.
>I figured out your riddle
>>
>>63659513
And honestly while I liked Gus killing Malvo, him sneaking into his cabin to basically assassinate him is sort of dumb.

And Lester should have just gone to jail
>>
>>63659513

Or even the fucking movie where Marge basically just takes Gaear to jail and then goes home and gets into bed with her husband.

>Mike lives a boring life
You mean realizes that the king he thought he was is outdated in corporate America
>Peggy goes to prison without closure
You mean realizes that everything isn't about her individuality (gets btfo by Lou) and actually starts to think about the people that have died because of her retardation.
>Betsy just dies later on
Meh, I guess they just decided to go against what everyone was expecting on this one. Made for a great final scene though.
>Hanzee goes from redskin batman to a fat old italian
So, we see the cycle of power from building an empire to watching it crumble under its own arrogance and 'weight', lol

Only thing I didn't like was how they handled the ayys, as they never really make it clear whether or not it was an unreliable narration.

I think its important to consider Mike's journey, how fucking rough it was. Losing his buddy, a Kitchen brother, and so on as well as killing the Gravedigger or whatever he was called just so that he could have the glory of taking down the Gerhardts. Except he doesn't, and assumes he'll reap the rewards. And he doesn't. In fact he loses his identity and personality for an accoubting Job behind a desk with no one to spin his fancy words and philosphy to. Its brutal

You didn't read my post.

Mike's character and ending were fucking fantastic. I enjoyed every second.

But his final scene had dick all to do with the story as a whole. Just his character. Which brings me back around to the point that while the finale was excellent, they should have gone a little more in depth with Peggy.

But as the anon who I replied too before this post said, they cover it pretty well between her talk with Ed and then Lou.

You don't see how the scene signified the closing of the curtain on the era and with it Mike's (and half the cast's) brand of crime and his (their) way of living all in one fell swoop?

How it served to elucidate the futility of all these displaced soldiers (of Vietnam, of mob wars, etc.) fighting these bloody, petty wars in all their incarnations?

How it showed that the end game of everything the bad guys in the show were fighting for isn't ever a king's reward but yet another type of servitude?

Covered by Lou and Hank's talks throughout the season.

My guess is Season 3 is where he'll show up.
He'll be in prison for some time, find out all his family is dead and have to cope with it.
Personally, I'd like to think he doesn't learn anything and becomes a hitman. Each season has had non mentally affecting issues, like Mr. Wrench & Derp brother so why not him?

Still kind of pissed off that Dodd & Bear died like that though, they should have had a face off with Entry of the Gladiators playing in the background. Bear with an army of Ayy Lmao's and Dodd with an army of dirty half-breeds.

I thought one of the obvious themes was the corporatization of America that began to take place in America during the 80's.

The end of the Mom and Pop shops and the start of Walmarts.

In this way the Gerhardts were your local general store and Kansas City was Walmart.

Mikes ending is reflective of this.
Sure the Gerhardts would extort you, attack you and all the rest but at least you saw them coming at least you knew what they were, cold hard criminals.
The corporation will bleed you dry slowly put you in a nice suit drop off little cubicle and watch you die slowly, both criminal one is just smiling in a suit.

I don't know, I'm not a writer.

I have watched the movie and the first season, and I think in both cases the main resolutions were at least clever. In the movie the money gets buried in the snow and no one gets what they want. In season 1 you have Lester turning the tables on Malvo and both of them meeting their ends in fitting ways.

What's the resolution here? Hanzee chases Ed and Peggy. He gives up and goes away. Ed dies. 40 minutes of mostly pointless wrap up. The end.

And I could forgive how underwhelming the finale was if I wasn't still extremely buttblasted about the fucking aliens.
>>
>>63658816
>But why show her falling?
I can take a stab at this. Betsy's fall is supposed to parallel Molly's in the first season. Both fall at the end of the episode and we think for sure they are dead, but end up alive and recovering in subsequent episodes.

My questions:

Remind me what happened to Hanzee's face? The versions I watched were kind of blurry so I couldn't see what was going on at points. Was it that one of the people at the motel threw chemicals in his face and burned it?

Explain what's going on with Hanzee's character at the end there? This person he's meeting with, is this an accomplice in taking down the Gehrhardts? He seems to know a lot.

Is Peggy responsible for Ed's death? We learn after the door opens that Hanzee was never there, it was the police knocking the whole time. Was she going crazy and imagining the smoke? Would he live if she opened the door? (Obviously we can say she was responsible for getting him into the situation in the first place, but we're talking about whether the death was preventable or not.)
>>
>>63660908

>Yeah we know she has cancer. That's all her character is. But why show her falling? It never goes anywhere. You assume it sets up tension because her husband is torn between duties, but derp she's fine and it didn't matter at all.

It gives tension for us. Lou is so focused on the case, meanwhile his wife might be dead. Plus it makes him realize what's important, his family. That's why he asks Molly about going fishing when he tucks her in.
>>
>>63661072
>Explain what's going on with Hanzee's character at the end there? This person he's meeting with, is this an accomplice in taking down the Gehrhardts? He seems to know a lot.

Hanzee becomes the leader of the Fargo Syndicate from Fargo Season 1.

The kids playing at the two hitmen he sends after Malvo aka thats why they made the point to show they were deaf.

Hanzee gets a face change literally MGSV.

Im not 100% sure on who hanzee met.

>Is Peggy responsible for Ed's death?
Yes. I think if she wasn't so batshit crazy she could have gotten him to help before he bled out.

Peggy threw coffee in his face.

Yes she imagined the smoke. Ed was gonna die regardless though because he was shot in the chest. Peggy was just fantasizing about a scenario like in the movie where they'd get saved, she was too fucking crazy to accept that it was too late for him.
